Este livro não é apenas a densa antologia poética de um dos escritores contemporâneos mais instigantes e inclassificáveis (como se isso fosse pouco....). É ainda e também a potente ontologia política elaborada por um dos nossos pensadores mais originais e insubmissos. “Poderíamos responder / ao hibridismo / democracia-fascismo / com a invenção de uma política / da imanência / inspirada naquilo / que os rios e as árvores / têm a nos dizer?” é a questão que coloca insistentemente e a cada poema, e que tenta responder persistentemente e a cada verso com a postulação de alianças de extração afro-indígena, “sufinambá”, que, partindo das “aldeias indígenas”, “respondem de e no modo efetivo / da alteridade radical”, “e em suas caosmoses / se conectam com a vida dos poetas / dos loucos / das crianças / dos pobres que não desejam a riqueza / enfim / com os campos de irradiação / da diferença / dos que vivem mais próximos do / Devir-Xingu do que do Devir-Brasília / ou do Devir-Cubatão”. É como se toda a poesia (i.e., toda sua política) de Marcelo Ariel fosse a tentativa de criar uma linha de fuga a esse Devir-Cubatão que o assola, que nos assola como o “ANJO DA HISTÓRIA * NOSSO INIMIGO”, e permitir a “a invasão das fagulhas de novas sinapses, / novas configurações da mente / nas crianças, nos loucos, nos índios e nos chamados poetas, / seus símiles novas sinapses invadindo / como estes desabrigados invadem os prédios, / mas as sinapses não dependem, nem esperam apenas invadem / como os sem-terra, os sem-teto / o espaço delimitado”. Daí a importância do surto (“surto cósmico”, “estados surtológicos”, “é preciso trincar o nome das coisas com o surto”), que instaura um estado, nomadológico em relação a(o) si, e dialógico com o outro (“Os movimentos de nomadismo dialógico que chamamos de conversas, diálogos são para o ser o mesmo que O SONHO ou O SURTO”) e em que se trata de ser invadido, de tornar-se uma invasão, um espaço de resistência (“O DEVIR NEGRO INAUGURA O QUILOMBO INTERIOR DE CADA SER”). Mas a ontologia política aqui não é enunciada. É performada. Ela se faz – a cada poema, a cada poiesis, porque em jogo está uma transformação do que nós somos e também da linguagem que somos e que é: “Somos como letras / num poema, / da ausência inconcebível do antes / à falsa nulidade do depois / Também somos o sopro / que se move / entre os dois”, como lemos em “Ontologia e signo”. Não se trata então somente de contaminar a poesia pela política, mas também, dada a aliança que se propõe, de devir-poética a política: “Cancela a usina / com o cantar / porque a voz está / no rio abraçando o mar”. Ao fim e ao cabo, Ariel nos exorta a fazer “uma caminhada por dentro de lugares que aparentemente nos sonham pelo lado de fora”, na forma de sucessivos surtos, isto é, poemas, isto é, diálogos com a alteridade radical que nós somos, que nós podemos ser, se tomarmos a “DECISÃO SURTOLÓGICA DE NASCER”, se produzirmos em nós esse “incêndio ao contrário”. Afinal, “É impossível encontrar quem não saiu de si”.

This primer is designed to teach students the interconnected arts of visual communication. The subject is presented, not as a foreign language, but as a native one that the student "knows" but cannot yet "read." Responding to the need she so clearly perceives, Ms. Dondis, a designer and teacher of broad experience, has provided a beginning text for art and design students and a basic text for all other students; those who do not intend to become artists or designers but who need to acquire the essential skills of understanding visual communication at a time when so much information is being studied and transmitted in non-verbal modes, especially through photography and film. Understanding through seeing only seems to be an obviously intuitive process. Actually, developing the visual sense is something like learning a language, with its own special alphabet, lexicon, and syntax. People find it necessary to be verbally literate whether they are "writers": or not; they should find it equally necessary to be visually literate, "artists" or not. This primer is designed to teach students the interconnected arts of visual communication. The subject is presented, not as a foreign language, but as a native one that the student "knows" but cannot yet "read." The analogy provides a useful teaching method, in part because it is not overworked or too rigorously applied. This method of learning to see and read visual data has already been proved in practice, in settings ranging from Harlem to suburbia. Appropriately, the book makes some of its most telling points through visual means. Numerous illustrated examples are employed to clarify the basic elements of design (teach an alphabet), to show how they are used in simple syntactic combinations ("See Jane run."), and finally, to present the meaningful synthesis of visual information that is a finished work of art (the apprehension of poetry...).
