This project examines social media strategies in the realm of persuading a college-aged population to switch from the typical American meat-based diet to one that is derived from plants. "The Plant-Based Type" is a typographic campaign on Instagram centered around a series of three time-lapse video narratives revealing truths about animal agriculture's assault on our health and the environment. The project comprises three messages, typographic in nature and constructed from organic materials pertaining to each concept. The first video addresses the myth that milk is the preeminent source of calcium and strong bones. The second video symbolizes the destruction of the Amazon rainforest due to cattle ranching for beef production. The third video addresses killer diseases in the United States which are linked to a meat-based diet. "The Plant-Based Type" challenges the dominant belief system that humans need to eat foods derived from animals for proper nutrition. The report will show that response and engagement rates indicate a successful campaign, however; a shift from the targeted Generation Z audience to a broader base of Millennials-another massive demographic-occurred.

This book is designed to show the advantages as well as the downside of any diet that is plant based. For any plant-based diet such as the Mediterranean Diet, all the concentration is on plants as well as the abolition of animal foods such as eggs, whey, cheese and milk. The foods included in the plant-based diets are generally beans, legumes, vegetables, whole grains, spices, seeds and nuts. There is a wide-range of food combination that can be prepared in the plant-based diet. Several different types of plant-based diets are available and three of the most popular ones are lacto-ovo-vegetarian where no meat is consumed but dairy products can be eaten, lacto-vegetarian that allows dairy products but no eggs or meat, and the vegan diet where there is no consumption of eggs, meat and dairy products. The alternative diets, particularly those used for weight loss, are quite problematic to follow and they usually become quite harmful to the body. So the temptation is always there to try other diets that are high in protein and are derived from cholesterol, salt and other dangerous content such as saturated fat. These prove to be very life-threatening and mostly affect cardiovascular health.
