Nonlinear Assignment Problems (NAPs) are natural extensions of the classic Linear Assignment Problem, and despite the efforts of many researchers over the past three decades, they still remain some of the hardest combinatorial optimization problems to solve exactly. The purpose of this book is to provide in a single volume, major algorithmic aspects and applications of NAPs as contributed by leading international experts. The chapters included in this book are concerned with major applications and the latest algorithmic solution approaches for NAPs. Approximation algorithms, polyhedral methods, semidefinite programming approaches and heuristic procedures for NAPs are included, while applications of this problem class in the areas of multiple-target tracking in the context of military surveillance systems, of experimental high energy physics, and of parallel processing are presented. Audience: Researchers and graduate students in the areas of combinatorial optimization, mathematical programming, operations research, physics, and computer science.

Theory And Algorithms For Cooperative Systems written by Don A. Grundel and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Computers categories.

Over the past several years, cooperative control and optimization have increasingly played a larger and more important role in many aspects of military sciences, biology, communications, robotics, and decision making. At the same time, cooperative systems are notoriously difficult to model, analyze, and solve OCo while intuitively understood, they are not axiomatically defined in any commonly accepted manner. The works in this volume provide outstanding insights into this very complex area of research. They are the result of invited papers and selected presentations at the Fourth Annual Conference on Cooperative Control and Optimization held in Destin, Florida, November 2003. This book has been selected for coverage in: . OCo Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings- (ISTP- / ISI Proceedings). OCo Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings (ISTP CDROM version / ISI Proceedings). OCo CC Proceedings OCo Engineering & Physical Sciences. Contents: Mesh Stability in Formation of Distributed Systems (C Ashokkumar et al.); On the Performance of Heuristics for Broadcast Scheduling (C Commander et al.); Coupled Detection Rates: An Introduction (D Jeffcoat); Decentralized Receding Horizon Control for Multiple UAVs (Y Kuwata & J How); Multitarget Sensor Management of Dispersed Mobile Sensors (R Mahler); K-Means Clustering Using Entropy Minimization (A Okafor & P Pardalos); Possibility Reasoning and the Cooperative Prisoner''s Dilemma (H Pfister & J Walls); Coordinating Very Large Groups of Wide Area Search Munitions (P Scerri et al.); A Vehicle Following Methodology for UAV Formations (S Spry et al.); Decentralized Optimization via Nash Bargaining (S Waslander et al.); and other papers. Mathematics Of Data Fusion written by I.R. Goodman and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-14 with Mathematics categories.

Data fusion or information fusion are names which have been primarily assigned to military-oriented problems. In military applications, typical data fusion problems are: multisensor, multitarget detection, object identification, tracking, threat assessment, mission assessment and mission planning, among many others. However, it is clear that the basic underlying concepts underlying such fusion procedures can often be used in nonmilitary applications as well. The purpose of this book is twofold: First, to point out present gaps in the way data fusion problems are conceptually treated. Second, to address this issue by exhibiting mathematical tools which treat combination of evidence in the presence of uncertainty in a more systematic and comprehensive way. These techniques are based essentially on two novel ideas relating to probability theory: the newly developed fields of random set theory and conditional and relational event algebra. This volume is intended to be both an update on research progress on data fusion and an introduction to potentially powerful new techniques: fuzzy logic, random set theory, and conditional and relational event algebra. Audience: This volume can be used as a reference book for researchers and practitioners in data fusion or expert systems theory, or for graduate students as text for a research seminar or graduate level course.

Data Fusion Mathematics: Theory and Practice offers a comprehensive overview of data fusion (DF) and provides a proper and adequate understanding of the basic mathematics directly related to DF. This new edition offers updated chapters alongside four new chapters that are based on recent research carried out by the authors, including topics on machine learning techniques, target localization using a network of 2D ground radar, thermal imaging sensors for multi‐target angle‐only tracking, and multi‐sensor data fusion for a single platform and team platforms. This book also covers major mathematical expressions, formulae and equations, and, where feasible, their derivations. It discusses signed distance function concepts, DF models and architectures, aspects and methods of types 1 and 2 fuzzy logics, and related practical applications. In addition, the authors cover soft computing paradigms that are finding increasing applications in multi-sensory DF approaches and applications. This text is geared toward researchers, scientists, teachers, and practicing engineers interested in and working in the multi‐sensor data fusion area.
