This handbook distils the wealth of expertise and knowledge from a large community of researchers and industrial practitioners in Software Product Lines (SPLs) gained through extensive and rigorous theoretical, empirical, and applied research. It is a timely compilation of well-established and cutting-edge approaches that can be leveraged by those facing the prevailing and daunting challenge of re-engineering their systems into SPLs. The selection of chapters provides readers with a wide and diverse perspective that reflects the complementary and varied expertise of the chapter authors. This perspective covers the re-engineering processes, from planning to execution. SPLs are families of systems that share common assets, allowing a disciplined software reuse. The adoption of SPL practices has shown to enable significant technical and economic benefits for the companies that employ them. However, successful SPLs rarely start from scratch, but instead, they usually start from a set of existing systems that must undergo well-defined re-engineering processes to unleash new levels of productivity and competitiveness. Practitioners will benefit from the lessons learned by the community, captured in the array of methodological and technological alternatives presented in the chapters of the handbook, and will gain the confidence for undertaking their own re-engineering challenges. Researchers and educators will find a valuable single-entry point to quickly become familiar with the state-of-the-art on the topic and the open research opportunities; including undergraduate, graduate students, and R&D engineers who want to have a comprehensive understanding of techniques in reverse engineering and re-engineering of variability-rich software systems.

Uml Based Software Product Line Engineering With Smarty written by Edson OliveiraJr and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-06 with Computers categories.

This book is about software product lines (SPLs) designed and developed taking UML diagrams as the primary basis, modeled according to a rigorous approach composed of an UML profile and a systematic process for variability management activities, forming the Stereotype-based Management of Variability (SMarty) approach. The book consists of five parts. Part I provides essential concepts on SPL in terms of the first development methodologies. It also introduces variability concepts and discusses SPL architectures finishing with the SMarty approach. Part II is focused on the design, verification and validation of SMarty SPLs, and Part III concentrates on the SPL architecture evolution based on ISO/IEC metrics, the SystEM-PLA method, optimization with the MOA4PLA method, and feature interaction prevention. Next, Part IV presents SMarty as a basis for SPL development, such as, the M-SPLearning SPL for mobile learning applications, the PLeTs SPL for testing tools, the PlugSPL plugin environment for supporting the SPL life cycle, the SyMPLES approach for designing embedded systems with SysML, the SMartySPEM approach for software process lines (SPrL), and re-engineering of class diagrams into an SPL. Eventually, Part V promotes controlled experimentation in UML-based SPLs, presenting essential concepts on how to plan, conduct, and document experiments, as well as showing several experiments carried out with SMarty. This book aims at lecturers, graduate students and experienced practitioners. Lecturers might use the book for graduate level courses about SPL fundamentals and tools; students will learn about the SPL engineering process, variability management, and mass customization; and practitioners will see how to plan the transition from single-product development to an SPL-based process, how to document inherent variability in a given domain, or how to apply controlled experiments to SPLs.

This book is by far the most systematic and comprehensive review of the field of automated software composition. Based on a formally described and reproducible methodology, it critically discusses the approaches, which are relevant for experts interested in an organized overview of related work. It also provides an introduction and intuitive classification system for researchers new to the field. In order to create this survey, several dozen papers were analyzed with respect to the concrete problems they tackle and the proposed solutions. It delivers both an overview and a qualitative comparison of the approaches, and answers three research questions: What types of automated software composition problems exist? In which use cases do these problems typically occur? And what are the most prominent solution paradigms for the different types? Overall, this book saves a great deal of time for everyone pursuing research in the area of automated software composition who needs a comprehensive guide that helps them understand the field, and that relates new approaches to existing ones.

Transdisciplinary Engineering For Complex Socio Technical Systems Real Life Applications written by J. Pokojski and has been published by IOS Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Transdisciplinary engineering transcends other inter- and multi-disciplinary ways of working, such as Concurrent Engineering (CE). In particular, transdisciplinary processes are aimed at solving complex, ill-defined problems, or problems for which the solution is not immediately obvious. No one discipline or single person can provide sufficient knowledge to solve such problems, so collaboration is essential. This book presents the proceedings of the 27th ISTE International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering, organized by Warsaw University of Technology, Poland, from 1-10 July 2020. ISTE2020 was the first of this conference series to be held virtually, due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Entitled Transdisciplinary Engineering for Complex Socio-technical Systems - Real-life Applications, the book includes 71 peer-reviewed papers presented at the conference by authors from 17 countries. These range from theoretical and conceptual to strongly pragmatic and addressing industrial best practice and, together with invited talks, they have been collated into 9 sections: Transdisciplinary Engineering (7 papers); Transdisciplinary Engineering Education (4 papers); Industry 4.0, Methods and Tools (7 papers); Human-centered Design (8 papers); Methods and Tools for Design and Production (14 papers); Product and Process Development (9 papers); Knowledge and Data Modeling (13 papers); Business Process and Supply Chain Management (7 papers); and Sustainability (2 papers). The book provides an overview of new approaches, methods, tools and their applications, as well as current research and development, and will be of interest to researchers, design practitioners, and educators working in the field.

A Study Of Java Refactoring Tool As Per Oop written by Dr. Ashad Ullah Qureshi and has been published by Concepts Books Publication this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Young Adult Nonfiction categories.

Object Oriented Programming(OOP) is a contemporary favorite method of programming. OOP provides better flexibility, source codes are more organized and systematized, and it enables a group of developers to easily work with each other. Nevertheless, a poorly designed system will not only defeat the intention of coding with OOP, but also will make the software extremely difficult to maintain. Refactoring is a powerful way to improve existing code. It only changes the structure of the source code without changing its functionality. Manually refactoring larger systems not only consumes large amounts of time and money, but it also happens to be incredibly inaccurate. As a result, quick and easy refactoring with partial automation is extensively discussed in the software realm

Managing Software Supply Chains written by Ying Wang and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-26 with Computers categories.

Open-source software supply chains wield significant influence in the software industry, drawing substantial interest from enterprises, researchers, and policymakers. Leveraging third-party libraries to build software applications is a common practice aimed at cost savings and software quality enhancement. However, heavy reliance on external libraries often leads to a state of “dependency hell”, marked by issues like incompatibilities, conflicting versions, bloated dependencies, and the inclusion of vulnerable library versions. Despite extensive research on software dependency management and the evolution of software supply chains, questions linger regarding the variances in dependency challenges across programming language ecosystems and how best to address the dependency hell phenomenon from an ecosystem-wide perspective. The aim of this book is to offer: (1) a comprehensive literature review on software supply chains, (2) discussions on modeling software supply chains and analyzing their evolutionary behaviors, (3) ecosystem-level strategies for diagnosing various dependency issues and automating problem resolution with cost-benefit analysis, and (4) provision of a toolkit and datasets to support future research and assist practitioners in addressing the challenges of dependency management. The methodologies outlined in this book have been previously presented in top-tier conferences and journals, with some techniques officially integrated into products by Microsoft Corporation and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. This book is designed to provide readers with a solid understanding of software supply chain fundamentals and practical guidance on implementing theory and techniques in real-world industrial settings. The book is chiefly intended for software engineering researchers and students with an academic background who are interested in learning about dependency management for third-party libraries, quality assurance for software supply chains, and the evolution of open-source software ecosystems. It will also be of interest to practitioners, including software engineers, quality assurance professionals, and software managers, as well as general readers. All will benefit from our systematic studies on the dependency hell phenomenon in various programming language communities and valuable associated artifacts.
