Kunden verhalten sich bei der Inanspruchnahme von Dienstleistungen oft anders als geplant. Beispielsweise liegen benotigte Unterlagen nicht vor, Kunden erscheinen nicht rechtzeitig zu Terminen oder sind bei Nachfragen im Urlaub und damit nicht erreichbar. Die Integration von Kunden in die Geschaftsprozesse fuhrt damit zu Verzogerungen bei der Erstellung von Dienstleistungen. Da diese nicht auf Vorrat produziert werden konnen, wird die Produktivitat von Dienstleistungsprozessen in solchen Fallen reduziert. Allerdings kann im Rahmen der operativen Prozesssteuerung gegengesteuert werden. Dazu entwickelt der Autor eine Methodik, mit deren Hilfe die Produktivitat von Dienstleistungsprozessen unter Berucksichtigung der Kundenintegration gesteigert werden kann. Im ersten Schritt wird durch Process Mining der historische Prozessverlauf analysiert und der Einfluss der Kundenintegration ermittelt. Diese Informationen werden im zweiten Schritt dazu genutzt, potenzielle Veranderungen im Rahmen der operativen Steuerung zu simulieren. Die Anwendung der Methodik erfolgt anhand detaillierter Prozessdaten einer mittelgrossen Bank. Sowohl Wissenschaftler als auch Praktiker konnen von dieser Arbeit profitieren. Erstere finden Anregungen zur Konkretisierung von Steuerungsmodellen des operativen Prozessmanagements und insbesondere zur Identifikation des Einflusses der Kundenintegration auf die Produktivitat. Praktikern liefert die Dissertation eine ausfuhrliche Handlungsanleitung fur eine fortschrittliche operative Steuerung von informationszentrierten Dienstleistungsprozessen.

Business process management aims at capturing, understanding, and improving work in organizations. The central artifacts are process models, which serve different purposes. Detailed process models are used to analyze concrete working procedures, while high-level models show, for instance, handovers between departments. To provide different views on process models, business process model abstraction has emerged. While several approaches have been proposed, a number of abstraction use case that are both relevant for industry and scientifically challenging are yet to be addressed. In this paper we systematically develop, classify, and consolidate different use cases for business process model abstraction. The reported work is based on a study with BPM users in the health insurance sector and validated with a BPM consultancy company and a large BPM vendor. The identified fifteen abstraction use cases reflect the industry demand. The related work on business process model abstraction is evaluated against the use cases, which leads to a research agenda.

The overarching aim of Finance, Innovation and Geography: Harnessing Knowledge Dynamics in German Biotechnology is to explore linkages between geographies of finance and relational geographies of innovation. It reconstructs the unfolding in time and space of eight innovations in German biotechnology. Each one is represented in a qualitative case study. Since the 1997 Asian financial crisis, East Asia has implemented a number of initiatives designed to strengthen monetary and financial cooperation, bolstering the region's resilience to economic and financial vulnerabilities. One such initiative is the ASEAN+3 Information Exchange and Policy Dialogue, which includes development of early warning systems (EWS) for financial crises. This book examines efforts to develop EWS models. Specifically, the book analyzes the current understanding of the causes of currency and banking crises, describes recent progress in developing and applying EWS models for currency and banking crises, reviews methodolgical issues, assesses the predictive power of EWS models and also highlights areas where further research is required to make these models more effective tools for policy analysis.
