Stochastic Linear Quadratic Optimal Control Theory Differential Games And Mean Field Problems written by Jingrui Sun and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-06-29 with Mathematics categories.

This book gathers the most essential results, including recent ones, on linear-quadratic optimal control problems, which represent an important aspect of stochastic control. It presents results for two-player differential games and mean-field optimal control problems in the context of finite and infinite horizon problems, and discusses a number of new and interesting issues. Further, the book identifies, for the first time, the interconnections between the existence of open-loop and closed-loop Nash equilibria, solvability of the optimality system, and solvability of the associated Riccati equation, and also explores the open-loop solvability of mean-filed linear-quadratic optimal control problems. Although the content is largely self-contained, readers should have a basic grasp of linear algebra, functional analysis and stochastic ordinary differential equations. The book is mainly intended for senior undergraduate and graduate students majoring in applied mathematics who are interested in stochastic control theory. However, it will also appeal to researchers in other related areas, such as engineering, management, finance/economics and the social sciences.

This book gathers the most essential results, including recent ones, on linear-quadratic optimal control problems, which represent an important aspect of stochastic control. It presents the results in the context of finite and infinite horizon problems, and discusses a number of new and interesting issues. Further, it precisely identifies, for the first time, the interconnections between three well-known, relevant issues – the existence of optimal controls, solvability of the optimality system, and solvability of the associated Riccati equation. Although the content is largely self-contained, readers should have a basic grasp of linear algebra, functional analysis and stochastic ordinary differential equations. The book is mainly intended for senior undergraduate and graduate students majoring in applied mathematics who are interested in stochastic control theory. At the 15th Viennese Workshop on Optimal Control and Dynamic Games, held in July 2022, experts in economics and the management sciences identified a concerning trend: static decision-making models, while less effective than dynamic ones, are becoming increasingly prevalent. This book aims to address the economic and social costs associated with reliance on static models and to demonstrate the advantages of applying dynamic approaches. Static models may be easier to formulate, but they often overlook the long-term consequences of decisions, promoting myopic practices that can lead to poor outcomes. In contrast, dynamic models foster a more comprehensive perspective, enabling foresight in decision-making – which is crucial for issues involving stock variables, such as pollution, reputation, and inventory. The book explores the limitations of static models, including their inability to capture long-term outcomes, history-dependent solutions, and the impact of abrupt contextual changes. It also highlights recent advances in dynamic modeling techniques that can enhance accuracy and help adapt to complex decision-making environments. By promoting the shift from static to dynamic models, this book aspires to open new research opportunities and provide valuable insights for researchers, students, policymakers, and managers in the fields of economics and the management sciences.

Essays On Pareto Optimality In Cooperative Games written by Yaning Lin and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-09-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The book focuses on Pareto optimality in cooperative games. Most of the existing works focus on the Pareto optimality of deterministic continuous-time systems or for the regular convex LQ case. To expand on the available literature, we explore the existence conditions of Pareto solutions in stochastic differential game for more general cases. In addition, the LQ Pareto game for stochastic singular systems, Pareto-based guaranteed cost control for uncertain mean-field stochastic systems, and the existence conditions of Pareto solutions in cooperative difference game are also studied in detail. Addressing Pareto optimality for more general cases and wider systems is one of the major features of the book, making it particularly suitable for readers who are interested in multi-objective optimal control. Accordingly, it offers a valuable asset for researchers, engineers, and graduate students in the fields of control theory and control engineering, economics, management science, mathematics, etc.

Mean Field Type Games For Engineers written by Julian Barreiro-Gomez and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The contents of this book comprise an appropriate background to start working and doing research on mean-field-type control and game theory. To make the exposition and explanation even easier, we first study the deterministic optimal control and differential linear-quadratic games. Then, we progressively add complexity step-by-step and little-by-little to the problem settings until we finally study and analyze mean-field-type control and game problems incorporating several stochastic processes, e.g., Brownian motions, Poisson jumps, and random coefficients. We go beyond the Nash equilibrium, which provides a solution for non- cooperative games, by analyzing other game-theoretical concepts such as the Berge, Stackelberg, adversarial/robust, and co-opetitive equilibria. For the mean-field-type game analysis, we provide several numerical examples using a Matlab-based user-friendly toolbox that is available for the free use to the readers of this book. We present several engineering applications in both continuous and discrete time. Among these applications we find the following: water distribution systems, micro-grid energy storage, stirred tank reactor, mechanism design for evolutionary dynamics, multi-level building evacuation problem, and the COVID-19 propagation control. "With such a demand from engineering audiences, this book is very timely and provides a thorough study of mean-field-type game theory. The strenuous protagonist of this book is to bridge between the theoretical findings and engineering solutions. The book introduces the basics first, and then mathematical frameworks are elaborately explained. The engineering application examples are shown in detail, and the popular learning approaches are also investigated. Those advantageous characteristics will make this book a comprehensive handbook of many engineering fields for many years, and I will buy one when it gets published." - Zhu Han

Lq Dynamic Optimization And Differential Games written by Jacob Engwerda and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-06-17 with Business & Economics categories.

Game theory is the theory of social situations, and the majority of research into the topic focuses on how groups of people interact by developing formulas and algorithms to identify optimal strategies and to predict the outcome of interactions. Only fifty years old, it has already revolutionized economics and finance, and is spreading rapidly to a wide variety of fields. LQ Dynamic Optimization and Differential Games is an assessment of the state of the art in its field and the first modern book on linear-quadratic game theory, one of the most commonly used tools for modelling and analysing strategic decision making problems in economics and management. Linear quadratic dynamic models have a long tradition in economics, operations research and control engineering; and the author begins by describing the one-decision maker LQ dynamic optimization problem before introducing LQ differential games. Covers cooperative and non-cooperative scenarios, and treats the standard information structures (open-loop and feedback). Includes real-life economic examples to illustrate theoretical concepts and results. Presents problem formulations and sound mathematical problem analysis. Includes exercises and solutions, enabling use for self-study or as a course text. Supported by a website featuring solutions to exercises, further examples and computer code for numerical examples. LQ Dynamic Optimization and Differential Games offers a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of this extensively used class of economic models, and will appeal to applied mathematicians and econometricians as well as researchers and senior undergraduate/graduate students in economics, mathematics, engineering and management science.

Mean Field Games written by Yves Achdou and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-19 with Mathematics categories.

This volume provides an introduction to the theory of Mean Field Games, suggested by J.-M. Lasry and P.-L. Lions in 2006 as a mean-field model for Nash equilibria in the strategic interaction of a large number of agents. Besides giving an accessible presentation of the main features of mean-field game theory, the volume offers an overview of recent developments which explore several important directions: from partial differential equations to stochastic analysis, from the calculus of variations to modeling and aspects related to numerical methods. Arising from the CIME Summer School "Mean Field Games" held in Cetraro in 2019, this book collects together lecture notes prepared by Y. Achdou (with M. Laurière), P. Cardaliaguet, F. Delarue, A. Porretta and F. Santambrogio. These notes will be valuable for researchers and advanced graduate students who wish to approach this theory and explore its connections with several different fields in mathematics.

Mean field games and Mean field type control introduce new problems in Control Theory. The terminology “games” may be confusing. In fact they are control problems, in the sense that one is interested in a single decision maker, whom we can call the representative agent. However, these problems are not standard, since both the evolution of the state and the objective functional is influenced but terms which are not directly related to the state or the control of the decision maker. They are however, indirectly related to him, in the sense that they model a very large community of agents similar to the representative agent. All the agents behave similarly and impact the representative agent. However, because of the large number an aggregation effect takes place. The interesting consequence is that the impact of the community can be modeled by a mean field term, but when this is done, the problem is reduced to a control problem.
