L'esigenza di capire chi siamo e da dove veniamo è particolarmente sentita in questo inizio di millennio, mentre i confini nazionali dei paesi europei si dissolvono sotto l'impulso della globalizzazione economica e dell'unificazione politica, e una spinta migratoria irresistibile provoca un rimescolamento senza precedenti di popoli e culture.
