This is an open access book. Still related to the big theme of reinforcement the SDG’s at the previous conference, we try to invite academics and researchers in the world to participate in the 3rd Borobudur International Symposium 2021 (3rd BIS 2021). As we know, The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on all 17 SDGs have demonstrated that what began as a health catastrophe swiftly transformed into a human and socioeconomic crisis. In September 2019, the UN Secretary-General urged all sectors of society to mobilize for a decade of action on three fronts: global action to ensure increased leadership, increased resources, and smarter solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals; local action to embed the necessary transitions into governments’ policies, budgets, institutions, and regulatory frameworks; and international action to ensure greater leadership, increased resources, and smarter solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. Especially in 3rd BIS 2021, we brought up “Decade of Action towards Environmental Issues: Advancing the Innovation to Recover our Planet” as main theme. We are delighted to introduce Proceedings of the 3rd International Symposium On Religious Life (ISRL 2020). This conference has brought academicians, researchers, developers and practitioners around the world. In collaboration with Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS) and Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the Agency for Research, Development and Training of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) convened bi-annual symposium with the following main theme: “Religious Life, Ethics and Human Dignity in the Disruptive Era”. The 3rd ISRL highlighted the role of religion and ethics in the disruptive era that erode human values, civility, and dignity. In the processes of development and technological revolution, religion can play an essential role in providing spiritual, moral, and ethical guidance. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, religion is perceived in two ways: on the one hand, some faith communities have been willfully negligent and become ‘super-spreaders’ of the dangerous virus by defying stay-at-home orders. Yet, on the other hand, religion has also galvanized its adherents to support economically vulnerable and marginalized communities affected by the lockdown and social restrictions. Likewise, in democratization, religion gives society the necessary dynamic thrust to maintain its vibrancy, resiliency, and sustainability. This Symposium is therefore expected to delve into the complexity of how religion, religious values and faith communities confront the contemporary challenges to uphold ethics and human dignity. We strongly believe that ISRL conference provides a good forum for all academicians, researcher, developers and practitioners to discuss all religious Life, ethics and human dignity. We also expect that the future ISRL conference will be as successful and stimulating, as indicated by the contributions presented in this volume.

Pada dasarnya, harta diciptakan untuk diambil manfaatnya. Pemanfaatan harta bisa dilakukan dengan dua cara, yaitu dengan menghabiskan benda tersebut atau menggunakan harta secara terus-menerus dengan tetap menjaga kelanggengan benda tersebut, yakni wakaf. Harta benda wakaf dari sisi objek dapat berupa benda tidak bergerak ataupun benda bergerak, salah satunya berbentuk uang. Wakaf uang merupakan bagian dari ijtihad dalam bidang pengembangan potensi ekonomi Islam. Di Indonesia melalui Undang-Undang No. 41 Tahun 2004 tentang Wakaf, terkait penyaluran wakaf uang telah diatur, yaitu melalui perbankan Syarî’ah atau jasa Lembaga Keuangan Syarî’ah yang resmi ditunjuk sebagai LKS-PWU (Lembaga Keuangan Syarî’ah Penerima Wakaf Uang). Dengan demikian kehadiran perbankan Syarî’ah dapat dirasakan oleh semua golongan masyarakat, baik dari masyarakat golongan menengah ke atas ataupun sebaliknya (masyarakat kurang mampu), mengingat fungsi intermediasi sosial bank yang belum tergali dengan maksimal. Perbankan Syarî’ah merupakan suatu sistem yang bertujuan memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap tercapainya tujuan sosial-ekonomi dari masyarakat muslim.

This volume discusses the role and characteristics of Islamic finance and how it can contribute to a sustainable financial system. Islamic finance is not only for the 1.5 billion Muslims.
