There are a lot of books available about the chemistry and biology of sulfur. However, this is the first book with a compilation of all relevant Sulfur containing reagents. Synthetic chemists, most particularly in the medicinal and pharmaceutical chemists, are often called upon to prepare compounds that contain Sulfur as a key structural feature. In the past, this seemed to be a domain for specialists; today every synthetic chemist working in these area is expected to synthesize compounds containing sulfides, sulfates, sulfones, etc. This book offers an important source of information for the selection and handling of the right reagents.

Derived from the renowned, Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis (EROS), the related editors have created a new handbook which focuses on chiral reagents used in asymmetric synthesis and is designed for the chemist at the bench. This new handbook follows the same format as the Encyclopedia, including an introduction and an alphabetical arrangement of the reagents. As chiral reagents are the key for the successful asymmetric synthesis, choosing the right reagents is essential, in this handy reference the editors give details on how to prepare, store and use the reagents as well as providing key reactions to demonstrate where reagents have been successfully used. Comprehensive information on 226 reagents Covers 64 reagents which were not included in EROS All information in one easy to use volume – at an affordable price All reagents included will be added to e-EROS – please visit the site where you can gain access to over 50,000 reactions and 3,800 of the most frequently consulted reagents. Chemical Reagents For Protein Modification written by Roger L. Lundblad and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-11 with Medical categories.

First published in 1991, Chemical Reagents for Protein Modification, 2nd Edition provides a unique combination of theoretical and practical considerations for the use of chemical reagents for site-specific modification of proteins. The book is divided into three sections, with the first section describing general techniques, including information on the organic chemistry of the various modification reactions; the separation and characterization of site-specific modified proteins, including applications to proteins separated by electrophoresis followed by blotting; the specific chemical cleavage of peptide bonds in proteins; the separation of peptides by high-performance liquid chromatography and electrophoresis; and the use of chemical reagents to assess conformational change in proteins. The second section provides an encyclopedic description of reagents and reactions for the site-specific modification of individual amino acid residues in proteins. The final section presents descriptions of the use of chemical reagents to label biologically significant sites in proteins, including enzyme active sites and the use of covalent cross-linking to measure protein-protein interactions. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of photoaffinity reagents. The book will be an extremely useful research tool for all investigators interested in the solution chemistry of proteins.

Spurred by the desire to make chemistry a sustainable and "greener" technology, the field of organocatalysis has grown to become one of the most important areas in synthetic organic chemistry. Organic catalysts can often replace potentially toxic metal catalysts and allow reactions to proceed under mild reaction conditions, thereby saving energy costs and rendering chemical processes inherently safer. More importantly perhaps, organocatalysis offers a complementary reactivity in many instances leading to increased versatility. This Handbook describes 126 key reagents for organocatalytic reactions and will be especially useful for professionals in the area of sustainable chemistry, medicinal research, as well as synthetic organic chemists working in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. All the information compiled in this volume is also available in electronic format on Wiley Online Library. The 126 reagents represented here are but a small fraction of the ca. 5,000 reagents available in the electronic Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis (e-EROS). e-EROS offers various search interfaces to locate reagents of interest, including chemical structure, substructure and reactions search modes. e-EROS is updated regularly with new and updated entries.

Organic Chemistry Of Sulfur written by S. Oae and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

In recent years organic sulfur chemistry has been growing at an even faster pace than the very rapid development in other fields of chemistry. This phenomenal growth is undoubtedly a reflection of industrial and public demands: not only was sulfur recently in overall surplus for the first time in the history of the chemical industry but it has now become a prin cipal environmental hazard in the form of sulfur dioxide, sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfide. Another reason, discernible in the last fifteen years, has been the desire, on the part of individual chemists and all types of research managers, to move away from the established chemistry of carbon into the less well understood and sometimes virgin chemistries of the other elements which form covalent bonds. As a result of this movement the last decade has seen the development of sulfur chemistry into a well-organized and now much better understood branch of organic chemistry. Enough of the detail has become clear to see mechanistic interrelationships between previously unconnected reactions and with this clarification the whole subject has in tum become systema tized and subdivided. The divalent sulfur chemistry of thiols, monosulfides, disulfides and polysulfides is a large area in itself, much of it devoted to oxidation-reduction and the breakage and formation of sulfur-sulfur bonds, although interesting discoveries are now being made about the reac tivity of certain sulfur-carbon bonds. Of course, this area has its own mas sive biochemical branch involving enzymes and proteins.
