This work comprises a general study of symmetry breaking for compact Lie groups in the context of equivariant bifurcation theory. We begin by extending the theory developed by Field and Richardson for absolutely irreducible representations of finite groups to general irreducible representations of compact Lie groups, while allowing for branches of relative equilibria and phenomena such as the Hopf bifurcation. We also present a general theory of determinacy for irreducible Lie group actions. We show that branching patterns for generic equivariant bifurcation problems defined on irreducible representations persist under perturbations by sufficiently high order non-equivariant terms.

Dynamics And Symmetry written by Mike Field and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Mathematics categories.
This book contains the first systematic exposition of the global and local theory of dynamics equivariant with respect to a (compact) Lie group. Aside from general genericity and normal form theorems on equivariant bifurcation, it describes many general families of examples of equivariant bifurcation and includes a number of novel geometric techniques, in particular, equivariant transversality. This important book forms a theoretical basis of future work on equivariant reversible and Hamiltonian systems. This book also provides a general and comprehensive introduction to codimension one equivariant bifurcation theory. In particular, it includes the bifurcation theory developed with Roger Richardson on subgroups of reflection groups and the Maximal Isotropy Subgroup Conjecture. A number of general results are also given on the global theory. Introductory material on groups, representations and G-manifolds are covered in the first three chapters of the book. In addition, a self-contained introduction of equivariant transversality is given, including necessary results on stratifications as well as results on equivariant jet transversality developed by Edward Bierstone.

Bifurcation theory studies how the structure of solutions to equations changes as parameters are varied. The nature of these changes depends both on the number of parameters and on the symmetries of the equations. Volume I discusses how singularity-theoretic techniques aid the understanding of transitions in multiparameter systems. This volume focuses on bifurcation problems with symmetry and shows how group-theoretic techniques aid the understanding of transitions in symmetric systems. Four broad topics are covered: group theory and steady-state bifurcation, equicariant singularity theory, Hopf bifurcation with symmetry, and mode interactions. The opening chapter provides an introduction to these subjects and motivates the study of systems with symmetry. Detailed case studies illustrate how group-theoretic methods can be used to analyze specific problems arising in applications.

This book is an expanded version of a Master Class on the symmetric bifurcation theory of differential equations given by the author at the University of Twente in 1995. The notes cover a wide range of recent results in the subject, and focus on the dynamics that can appear in the generic bifurcation theory of symmetric differential equations. This text covers a wide range of current results in the subject of bifurcations, dynamics and symmetry. The style and format of the original lectures has largely been maintained and the notes include over 70 exercises.

Handbook Of Topological Fixed Point Theory written by Robert F. Brown and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-12-05 with Mathematics categories.
This book is the first in the world literature presenting all new trends in topological fixed point theory. Until now all books connected to the topological fixed point theory were devoted only to some parts of this theory. This book will be especially useful for post-graduate students and researchers interested in the fixed point theory, particularly in topological methods in nonlinear analysis, differential equations and dynamical systems. The content is also likely to stimulate the interest of mathematical economists, population dynamics experts as well as theoretical physicists exploring the topological dynamics.

This book is intended as an introductory text on the subject of Lie groups and algebras and their role in various fields of mathematics and physics. It is written by and for researchers who are primarily analysts or physicists, not algebraists or geometers. Not that we have eschewed the algebraic and geo metric developments. But we wanted to present them in a concrete way and to show how the subject interacted with physics, geometry, and mechanics. These interactions are, of course, manifold; we have discussed many of them here-in particular, Riemannian geometry, elementary particle physics, sym metries of differential equations, completely integrable Hamiltonian systems, and spontaneous symmetry breaking. Much ofthe material we have treated is standard and widely available; but we have tried to steer a course between the descriptive approach such as found in Gilmore and Wybourne, and the abstract mathematical approach of Helgason or Jacobson. Gilmore and Wybourne address themselvesto the physics community whereas Helgason and Jacobson address themselves to the mathematical community. This book is an attempt to synthesize the two points of view and address both audiences simultaneously. We wanted to present the subject in a way which is at once intuitive, geometric, applications oriented, mathematically rigorous, and accessible to students and researchers without an extensive background in physics, algebra, or geometry.

Normal Forms And Homoclinic Chaos written by William F. Langford and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Mathematics categories.
This volume presents new research on normal forms, symmetry, homoclinic cycles, and chaos, from the Workshop on Normal Forms and Homoclinic Chaos held during The Fields Institute Program Year on Dynamical Systems and Bifurcation Theory in November 1992, in Waterloo, Canada. The workshop bridged the local and global analysis of dynamical systems with emphasis on normal forms and the recently discovered homoclinic cycles which may arise in normal forms.
