This volume identifies promising learning, teaching, and assessment strategies for the use and assessment of technology in educational settings, specifically: *educational context (e.g., organizational and structural factors that contribute to the effective use of technology in school settings); *promising learning and teaching strategies; *promising technology-based assessment procedures and methods; *policy implementation issues; and *a summary of current research on the effective use of technology in education. Chapter authors represent a variety of perspectives and disciplines, from computer science, cognitive and educational psychology, and educational administration. It is designed for professionals and graduate students in the educational technology, training, assessment/evaluation, school administration, military psychology, and educational psychology communities. This book is characterized in the following montage of factors: *the primacy of learning as a focus for technology implementation; *a focus on technology uses in K-16 education; *a focus on the assessment of both individuals and teams; *a broad variety of methodological approaches from qualitative to instructional design to quantitative (e.g., structural equation modeling); *a need to support the development of technology-based curriculum and tools; and *a need for theory-driven and evaluation studies to increase our knowledge.

Educational Technology Beyond Content written by Brad Hokanson and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-09 with Education categories.

This book is the outcome of a research symposium sponsored by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology [AECT]. Consisting of twenty-four chapters, including an introduction and conclusion, it argues that informational content should not be the main element of education, and that to provide more for learners, it is necessary to go beyond content and address other skills and capabilities. It also discusses the false premise that learning is complete when the information is known, not when learners seek more: their own directions, answers, and ideas. The authors assert that the ability to synthesize, solve problems and generate ideas is not based on specific content, although education often focuses solely on teaching content. Further, they state that content can be separated from the learning process and that instructional design and educational technology must be about the skills, habits, and beliefs to be learned.

Narrative has always been used as a means for learning, both in school and in informal contexts. Technology has further increased the possibilities of exploiting its potential for education. Is there an added value, though, in using technology to realize narrative learning experiences? And what are the advantages of embedding narrative in technology-based learning environments? Addressing such questions is the aim and focus of this volume. The book includes 12 chapters analysing different ways of building and using technology-mediated narrative learning environments or highlighting aspects that can help the reader gain a deeper understanding of their educational potential. The focus is not limited to cognition, but includes also motivation and emotion, which are important components of learning. The book originates from the work of the Special Interest Group 'Narrative and Learning Environments'of the Kaleidoscope Network of Excellence. It is addressed to teachers, educators, parents, cultural operators, researchers and software designers, and aims to help all of them increase their ability to exploit, appreciate and enjoy their work with technology-mediated narrative learning environments.
