This volume presents advances that have been made over recent decades in areas of research featuring Hardy's inequality and related topics. The inequality and its extensions and refinements are not only of intrinsic interest but are indispensable tools in many areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. Hardy inequalities on domains have a substantial role and this necessitates a detailed investigation of significant geometric properties of a domain and its boundary. Other topics covered in this volume are Hardy- Sobolev-Maz’ya inequalities; inequalities of Hardy-type involving magnetic fields; Hardy, Sobolev and Cwikel-Lieb-Rosenbljum inequalities for Pauli operators; the Rellich inequality. The Analysis and Geometry of Hardy’s Inequality provides an up-to-date account of research in areas of contemporary interest and would be suitable for a graduate course in mathematics or physics. A good basic knowledge of real and complex analysis is a prerequisite.

Theories, methods and problems in approximation theory and analytic inequalities with a focus on differential and integral inequalities are analyzed in this book. Fundamental and recent developments are presented on the inequalities of Abel, Agarwal, Beckenbach, Bessel, Cauchy–Hadamard, Chebychev, Markov, Euler’s constant, Grothendieck, Hilbert, Hardy, Carleman, Landau–Kolmogorov, Carlson, Bernstein–Mordell, Gronwall, Wirtinger, as well as inequalities of functions with their integrals and derivatives. Each inequality is discussed with proven results, examples and various applications. Graduate students and advanced research scientists in mathematical analysis will find this reference essential to their understanding of differential and integral inequalities. Engineers, economists, and physicists will find the highly applicable inequalities practical and useful to their research.

The principal aim of the volume is gathering all the contributions given by the speakers (mini courses) and some of the participants (short talks) of the summer school "Modern Problems in PDEs and Applications" held at the Ghent Analysis and PDE Center from 23 August to 2 September 2023. The school was devoted to the study of new techniques and approaches for solving partial differential equations, which can either be considered or arise from the physical point of view or the mathematical perspective. Both sides are extremely important since theories and methods can be developed independently, aiming to gather each other in a common objective. The aim of the summer school was to progress and advance in the problems considered. Note that real-world problems and their applications are classical study trends in physical or mathematical modelling. The summer school was organised in a friendly atmosphere and synergy, and it was an excellent opportunity to promote and encourage the development of the subject in the community.

This book derives new Hardy inequalities with double singular weights - at an interior point and on the boundary of the domain. We focus on the optimality of Hardy constant and on its attainability. Applications include: results about existence\nonexistence and controllability for parabolic equations with double singular potentials; estimates from below of the fi rst eigenvalue of p-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions.

In many branches of mathematical analysis and mathematical physics, the Hardy operator and Hardy inequality are fundamentally important and have been intensively studied ever since the pioneer researches. This volume presents new properties of higher-dimensional Hardy operators obtained by the authors and their collaborators over the last decade. Its prime focus is on higher-dimensional Hardy operators that are based on the spherical average form. The key motivation for this monograph is based on the fact that the Hardy operator is generally smaller than the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator, which leads to, on the one hand, the operator norm of the Hardy operator itself being smaller than the latter. On the other hand, the former characterizing the weight function class or function spaces is greater than the latter.

The Cauchy Schwarz Master Class written by J. Michael Steele and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-04-26 with Mathematics categories.
This lively, problem-oriented text, first published in 2004, is designed to coach readers toward mastery of the most fundamental mathematical inequalities. With the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality as the initial guide, the reader is led through a sequence of fascinating problems whose solutions are presented as they might have been discovered - either by one of history's famous mathematicians or by the reader. The problems emphasize beauty and surprise, but along the way readers will find systematic coverage of the geometry of squares, convexity, the ladder of power means, majorization, Schur convexity, exponential sums, and the inequalities of Hölder, Hilbert, and Hardy. The text is accessible to anyone who knows calculus and who cares about solving problems. It is well suited to self-study, directed study, or as a supplement to courses in analysis, probability, and combinatorics.

The main topics of this volume, dedicated to Lance Littlejohn, are operator and spectral theory, orthogonal polynomials, combinatorics, number theory, and the various interplays of these subjects. Although the event, originally scheduled as the Baylor Analysis Fest, had to be postponed due to the pandemic, scholars from around the globe have contributed research in a broad range of mathematical fields. The collection will be of interest to both graduate students and professional mathematicians. Contributors are: G.E. Andrews, B.M. Brown, D. Damanik, M.L. Dawsey, W.D. Evans, J. Fillman, D. Geometrical concepts play a significant role in the analysis of physical systems. Apart from the intrinsic interest, the knowledge of differentiable manifolds has become useful — even mandatory — in an ever-increasing number of areas of mathematics and its applications. Many results/concepts in analysis find their most natural (generalized) setting in manifold theory. An interrelation of geometry and analysis can be found in this volume. The book presents original research, besides a few survey articles by eminent experts from all over the world on current trends of research in differential and algebraic geometry, classical and modern analysis including the theory of distributions (linear and nonlinear), partial differential equations and wavelets.
