The Discipleship and Mentoring Workbook is designed to help leaders establish a biblical understanding of discipleship and disciple-making (spiritual mentoring) for life and leadership. This workbook is part of The Leadership Development Series of workbooks designed to facilitate "transformational learning" for establishing a foundation that will stand the test of time and help us to meet the challenges of learning how to be "lovers in a dangerous time" (musician Bruce Cockburn). Jesus stated that, "God is spirit, and his worshippers [Disciples and Mentors] must worship in Spirit [Spirit-Empowered] and in truth [Bible-Centered]" John 4:24, NIV. From this passage I developed The Leadership Development Series that includes this workbook plus The Bible-Centered Leader Workbook; The Spirit-Empowered Leader Workbook; and The Discipleship and Leadership Workbook (that is a "best of" or introductory overview of the content in the other three workbooks in this series for younger emerging leaders). The Discipleship and Mentoring Workbook is designed as a stand-alone and/or companion to other workbooks in this series. Each of these workbooks is formatted using the IDEA approach to transformational learning. The goal of the IDEA approach is to facilitate the "gracious work" of God through his word and spirit to transform us "into his likeness with ever increasing glory..." (II Corinthians 3:18, NIV) Each chapter will begin with an Introduction (I) followed by Discovery (D), Explanation (E), and Application (A) sections. Each chapter can be worked through as a unit or in sequence as a whole with a variety of process options including individual, small groups, and various course applications. Take your time and prayerfully and carefully read, study, discuss, apply, and evaluate your progress. Remember that becoming a disciple and mentor is not an objective as much as it is a process or lifestyle. We do not obtain these as much as we become them. Over the years, we will be transformed by God (discipleship) in order help others (spiritual mentoring) in their transformation process.

The Spirit Empowered Leader Workbook written by Paul Leavenworth and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-09 with categories.

The Spirit-Empowered Leader Workbook was designed to help leaders establish a biblical understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit filled and empowered life for effective leadership. Jesus told his disciples: I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:10-12, NIV, italics added) An understanding of the nature, role, and empowering of the Holy Spirit is essential if we are to be like Jesus, do what he did, and do even "greater works" than he did by fulfilling the Great Commission through demonstrating and communicating the gospel of the kingdom to all nations. This is what we will attempt to do as we work through this workbook. Each chapter can be worked through as a unit or in sequence as a whole with a variety of process options including individual, small group, and various course applications. The Spirit-Empowered Leader Workbook is designed as a stand-alone or a companion to other workbooks in The Leadership Development Series. Other workbooks in this series include The Bible-Centered Leader Workbook; The Discipleship and Mentoring Workbook; and a "best of" or introductory workbook for younger emerging leaders entitled The Discipleship and Leadership Workbook. Take your time and prayerfully and carefully read, study, discuss, apply, and evaluate your progress. Remember that becoming a spirit-empowered leader is not an objective as much as it is a process or lifestyle. It is not something we get, but something we become over time. Over the years we will be transformed by God and empowered to "be" about the Father's business (Luke 2:49).

Leadership is essential. Maybe you've shied away from leadership because you don't know what it will involve, or you feel too unsure of your own abilities. But your leadership is needed! In every sector of society, from families to businesses to churches, leadership roles remain empty, waiting for people willing and able to step up and make wise decisions that bring positive change. And, in a world with priorities vastly different from Christ's, Christian leaders are especially needed to point people to him. Preparation is essential. As essential as the leadership itself is the preparation beforehand, which is why Greg Ogden, a seasoned leader himself, has created this interactive guide that will give you the tools you need to lead well, using your unique gifts and experience. Divided into four sections, this workbook will help you develop character, postures, vision and skills as you participate in the following elements in each chapter: a memory verse a Bible study a reading a leadership exercise By working through these multiple channels of learning you'll be equipped not just with head knowledge about leadership but with true character formation and awareness of your own abilities that will prepare you for the challenges and choices of leadership. Designed to work well on your own, with a partner or with a group, Leadership Essentials by Greg Ogden and Daniel Meyer is the essential preparation tool for those who would be led and shaped by Christ to lead others with strength and wisdom.

Welcome to Introduction to Discipleship: Responding to the Call. This workbook is the first of a series of three workbooks designed for Christians seeking to go deeper and high school students who want to learn more about what the Bible has to say about discipleship, Christian leadership, and living a meaningful and impacting life. The workbooks focus on three aspects of maturing as a Christian leader:* Introduction to Discipleship: Responding to the Call - CHARACTER* Introduction to Leadership: Growing in the Call - COMPETENCIES* Introduction to Life Planning: Achieving the Call - CALLINGEach of these workbooks is a stand-alone study but they are also designed to complement each other. This first workbook is designed to help you gain a Biblical understanding of the 5 C's of discipleship: call, cost, character, commandment, and commission. A lifestyle of discipleship involves establishing, maintaining, and enlarging a solid "spiritual formation" foundation of purity, integrity, and maturity (I Timothy 1: 5) for a faithful, fulfilling, and fruitful life. Introduction to Discipleship: Responding to the Call is formatted using the IDEA approach of discovery learning for life transformation. Each chapter begins with an Introduction (I), followed by Discovery (D), Explanation (E), and Application (A) sections. The goal of the IDEA approach is to facilitate the "gracious work" of God through his Word and Spirit to help transform you "into his likeness with ever increasing glory..." (II Corinthians 3: 18, NIV).

Put your flawed foot forward. Pick up most leadership books and you’ll find strategies for leveraging your power and minimizing your areas of weakness. But think about the leaders whose names have gone down in history. Most of them were so messed up that, if they were looking for work today, no executive placement service would give them the time of day. God’s criteria for choosing leaders runs counter to the conventional wisdom. Our culture equates strength with effectiveness, but God favors leaders who know the value of brokenness. In Leading With a Limp, you’ll discover what makes flawed leaders so successful. They’re not preoccupied with protecting their image, they are undaunted by chaos and complexity, they are ready to risk failure in moving an organization from what is to what should be. God chooses leaders who aren’t deceived by the myths of power and control, but who realize that God’s power is found in brokenness. If you are a leader–or if you have been making excuses to avoid leading–find out how you can take full advantage of your weakness. A limping leader is the person God uses to accomplish amazing things. To go deeper, check out the Leading With a Limp Workbook.
