Who were the Puritans? What did they seek to achieve? What were their successes and failures? Are they of any importance to Christians today? We firmly believe that all Christians need to discover the important story of how these men and women sought to follow Jesus Christ. Their convictions resulted in a brave and joyful faith, and the writing they have left us on the Christian life continues to be a rich resource for our own discipleship. Meeting the Puritans by listening to them has enriched both of us more than we can express. And so, in The Glory of Grace, we want to introduce you to people who had a deep love for Jesus Christ and a great vision for the Christian life. We all have much to learn‚]‚€‚] Each chapter contains a concise introduction followed by carefully selected excerpts from key Puritan works, together with suggestions for further reading.

An important confession of the reformed churches for hundreds of years, the Canons of Dort teach clearly that salvation is by grace alone through Christ alone. yet some people may find it an intimidating document and wonder why it was even written. In The Glory of Grace, William Boekestein and evan hughes help our children understand the difficult challenges the churches in the netherlands faced in the Arminians distortion of the gospel message. in this story about the Synod of Dort (1618), children will learn about the history and ideas that formed the Canons of Dort and come to a greater appreciation of this great treasure of the reformed faith and its emphasis on the glory of god in graciously saving sinners. Endorsement Believers who cherish the biblical teaching of salvation by grace alone through the work of Christ alone will be pleased with the publication of this book. William Boekestein has done a fine service for children and their parents (and, I might add, grandparents) who want their children to know the story of the preservation of this teaching by the great Synod of Dort in the early seventeenth century. May this book serve well in shewing to the generation to come the praises of the lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done (Ps. 78:4). Cornelis P. Venema

The Glory of Christ is a book designed to declare part of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is revealed in the Scripture and proposed as the central object of our faith, love, delight, and admiration. The knowledge of Christ and His glory, John Owen says, is to be preferred above all other wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Why is it to be preferred? Why should we become engaged in a study of the glory of Christ? The author answers the question well when he writes, "For if our future blessedness shall consist in being where He is and beholding His glory, what better preparation can there be for it than a constant previous contemplation of that glory as revealed in the gospel, that by a view of it we may be gradually transformed into the same glory?

In Glory, Grace, and Truth, Alexander Tsutserov argues that three concepts of the revelation of God as Jesus are unfolded throughout the Gospel of John in terms of a ratification of the covenant of the presence of God. The covenantal aspects of glory, confirming the presence of God, are evident in Jesus: the visible appearance of God; the intrinsic character of God; the miraculous splendor of God (in Jesus's incomparable signs, deeds, wonders, and marvelous acts); and the divine honor of God (in the Son glorified by the Father). Grace upon grace alludes to the requests to confirm the presence of God. All believers gained the grace of the presence of God in Jesus, rather than Moses alone encountering the grace of the presence at Sinai. The Gospel of John depicts ratification of the covenant of the presence of God in Jesus according with the covenantal articles. Grace and truth alludes to Exodus 34:6. Each allusion in John depicts the full graciousness and integrity of God's character. The Son possesses and bestows the Father's character onto believers by means of the Holy Spirit, who is full of grace and truth. The divine character and the divine Law complement each other in believers, thus fulfilling the Scripture. In essence, the revelations of God at Sinai and in Jesus are the same. In quality, the latter surpasses the former in all three aspects: glory, grace, and truth.

Humans are hardwired for awe. Our hearts are always captured by something - that's how God made us. But sin threatens to distract us from the glory of our Creator. All too often, we stand in awe of everything but God. Uncovering the lies we believe about all the earthly things that promise us peace, life, and contentment, Paul Tripp redirects our gaze to God's awe-inducing glory - showing how such a vision has the potential to impact our every thought, word, and deed. He looks at the subject of awe through a number of lenses: ministry, transgression, materialism, growth, worldview, church, parenting and work. Awe of God puts other things in their proper place. It enables us to see as God intended, to lift our eyes higher, and worship him alone.
