When you think of spiritual warfare, what comes to mind? Stressed-out saints duking it out with demons? Mystical believers "seeing" things most of us can't? According to but they also keep most of us from gaining the spiritual victories God wants us to enjoy. Changing the World Through Kindness shows how every believer can fight the powers of darkness through the greater power of kindness. Using real- life stories to illustrate effective principles from the Word of God, Sjogren shows readers step-by-step how to live a life that will change them, their families, their neighborhoods and their churches - and eventually the world.

When we consider modern American animal advocacy, we often think of veganism, no-kill shelters, Internet campaigns against trophy hunting, or celebrities declaring that they would "rather go naked" than wear fur. Contemporary critics readily dismiss animal protectionism as a modern secular movement that privileges animals over people. Yet the movement's roots are deeply tied to the nation's history of religious revivalism and social reform. In The Gospel of Kindness, Janet M. Davis explores the broad cultural and social influence of the American animal welfare movement at home and overseas from the Second Great Awakening to the Second World War. Dedicated primarily to laboring animals at its inception in an animal-powered world, the movement eventually included virtually all areas of human and animal interaction. Embracing animals as brethren through biblical concepts of stewardship, a diverse coalition of temperance groups, teachers, Protestant missionaries, religious leaders, civil rights activists, policy makers, and anti-imperialists forged an expansive transnational "gospel of kindness," which defined animal mercy as a signature American value. Their interpretation of this "gospel" extended beyond the New Testament to preach kindness as a secular and spiritual truth. As a cultural product of antebellum revivalism, reform, and the rights revolution of the Civil War era, animal kindness became a barometer of free moral agency, higher civilization, and assimilation. Yet given the cultural, economic, racial, and ethnic diversity of the United States, its empire, and other countries of contact, standards of kindness and cruelty were culturally contingent and potentially controversial. Diverse constituents defended specific animal practices, such as cockfighting, bullfighting, songbird consumption, and kosher slaughter, as inviolate cultural traditions that reinforced their right to self-determination. Ultimately, American animal advocacy became a powerful humanitarian ideal, a touchstone of inclusion and national belonging at home and abroad that endures to this day.

The Gospel Of Pure Human Kindness written by Charles F. Tekula Jr. and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-07-30 with Religion categories.

With The Gospel of Pure Human Kindness, Charles F. Tekula, Jr. brings to light the very nature of Jesus the Nazorean in an eminently readable interpretive adaptation of the Gospel According to St. John, taken from the King James. By updating the phraseology with familiar terms and idioms and putting the chapters into standard book format, sans numbered verses, Tekula has put the fullness of the story back into the message. He illuminates the true heart of the Gospel by replacing the narrator's identification of Jesus from his angelically given Greek name (meaning God Saves") to the English "Pure Human Kindness." In this way it is transformed from a name that modern civilization gives as many meanings to as there are philosophies and cultures within it, to one whose interpretation is singular, point on and unmistakable. As the author explains in his introduction, Jesus showed Himself to be, by His very words and actions, a "pure human kindness with the power and authority of Almighty God to back it up." To read "The Gospel of Pure Human Kindness" is to meet the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the form of His living metaphor, Jesus, the Davidic Galilean Jew, who inspired the Apostle John to write the everlasting words, "God is love."(I John 4:16)

Love Kindness written by Barry H. Corey and has been published by NavPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-05 with Religion categories.

Kindness is not what we have been taught it is. It isn’t a soft virtue, expressed only by sweet grandmothers or nice Boy Scouts. Kindness is neither timid nor frail. Instead, it is brave and daring, willing to be vulnerable with those with whom we disagree. It is the revolutionary way that Jesus himself called us to live. The way of selfless risks. The way of staggering hope. The way of authenticity. Dr. Barry Corey, president of Biola University, believes we tend to devalue the importance of kindness, opting instead for caustic expressions of certainty that push people away. We forget that the essence of what God requires of us is to “love kindness.” In this book, filled with stories from his travels around the globe, Barry shows us the forgotten way of kindness. It is a life that calls us to put ourselves at risk. A life that calls us to hope. A life of a firm center and soft edges. It is the life Christ invites us to follow, no matter what the cost. This new paperback edition has an added chapter and a foreword from Steven Curtis Chapman.

The Kindness Of God written by Graham Hooper and has been published by Inter-Varsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-19 with Religion categories.

Let’s be honest: there are gaps everywhere in life - the gap between who we are and who we would like to be; the gap between the Christianity we profess and the Christianity we practise; the gap between us and those we love; the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be. We feel disconnected from God, from one another and from ourselves. How do we close those gaps? How is God working to make us whole? This book brings the gospel to bear on the gaps in our lives. Drawing on a highly unusual lifetime’s experience living out the Christian faith in more than twenty countries, Graham Hooper shows how we can be made whole in the struggles and joys of everyday life - work and relationships, success and failure, service and weakness.
