Communication for Command and Control Systems provides a thorough exposition of the basic theoretical and practical features involved in the design of communication networks for command and control systems. This book focuses primarily on the practical side of computer-controlled communication. This text concentrates on the communication sides of the subject by surveying the means of transferring data between the various processing points and by appraising their potential advantages and possible defects in implementation. In this respect, this book should prove useful for the practicing engineer engaged in command and control system design in civil, military, and administrative spheres. Accompanying materials such as charts and illustrations are also provided as useful reference. For the system designers, this text is a unique reference; this book also presents comparison tables that can be of practical assistance in the selection of the blocks for specific operations.

"The introduction of advanced technologies into the military, which is known as the "revolution in military affairs," is producing an opportunity for significant changes in the American military's paradigm for command and control. The future battlespace will require commanders to operate more efficiently and at a higher operations tempo, so that commanders will be able to use the advantages of dominant battlespace awareness to enhance what is known as "command-by-intent." But the more likely outcome is a return tocommand-by-direction. A potential consequence of this change is that significant command functions will be made by machines that act, not as an assistant, but as the decision maker and executor -- which is known as the machine commander. However, the current U.S. military doctrine is inconsistent about the admissibility of such an entity, even though technological developments are on the threshold of delivering the components for constructing the first-generation machine commander. Furthermore, the same infrastructure that assists the traditional human commander creates a framework for using a machine commander. Furthermore, the same infrastructure that assists the tradiitional human commander creates a framework for using a machine commander. While resistance to this technology is expected, this is the proper time to examine the implications of a machine commander for military operations in the future."--Abstract

Human System Integration For Future Command And Control written by and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Command and control systems categories.
The Army's transformation to Future Combat Systems (FCS) poses an unprecedented alliance of humans and machines, particularly for Command and Control (C). Creating a human-machine alliance that actually improves command and control is a severe challenge in human-system integration for FCS. First, this report selectively identifies four overarching research issues for command and control: Allocation, Autonomy, Authority, and Awareness. Second, two complementary research approaches, mid-scale and small-scale transformation environments, for investigating human-system integration issues are described. An example of a mid-scale transformation environment from the FCS C2 program is provided with selected results from Experiment 1 on human-system integration. The value added by small-scale transformation environments, however, is needed to maintain a human-centric focus and provide two unique roles: a breeding ground for innovation to larger environments, and proving ground for issues from larger environments. An example of an emerging small-scale transformation environment directed at FCS concept exploration and training is provided. The core technical, operational and human performance assets currently available for this small-scale transformation environment are described. The report's intended audience includes any members of the user, researcher, and developer community who might benefit from, or provide benefit to, the Army's ongoing FCS research program."--DTIC.

MAJOR-GENERAL M. K. JEFFERY Command, and mdeed the human in command, has always been key to milItary operations. The complexIty and tempo of modern operations make this statement even more true today than in the past. However, both the military and the research 2 communities have tended to treat command and control (C ) from a limited per spective. For too long, command and control have been considered as if they were a single concept, with control often dominatmg our study. Indeed, in many 2 cases we have divorced operational C from the military institution itself, resulting in disconnects and inefficiencies. Then, in an attempt to overcome these self-inflicted deficiencies, we have pursued the Holy Grail of technology, hoping that it 2 would solve our C problems. Only now, as we start to realize technology's costs 2 and limitations, are we looking critically at C • This book attempts to take such a look. The contributions that make up this book are the product of a June 1998 NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) workshop called The Human m Command. Far from being purely an academIc exercise, this gathenng brought together milI 2 tary leaders and civilian scientists to discuss C's central pragmatic and conceptual issues-its assumptions, its practices, and its organization. Indeed, in recent years there has been mounting evidence that both our society and Its military institutions are facing organizational crises.

Did God Really Command Genocide written by Paul Copan and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-11 with Religion categories.
A common objection to belief in the God of the Bible is that a good, kind, and loving deity would never command the wholesale slaughter of nations. Even Christians have a hard time stomaching such a thought, and many avoid reading those difficult Old Testament passages that make us squeamish. Instead, we quickly jump to the enemy-loving, forgiving Jesus of the New Testament. And yet, the question doesn't go away. Did God really command genocide? Is the command to "utterly destroy" morally unjustifiable? Is it literal? Are the issues more complex and nuanced than we realize? In the tradition of his popular Is God a Moral Monster?, Paul Copan teams up with Matthew Flannagan to tackle some of the most confusing and uncomfortable passages of Scripture. Together they help the Christian and nonbeliever alike understand the biblical, theological, philosophical, and ethical implications of Old Testament warfare passages. Pastors, youth pastors, campus ministers, apologetics readers, and laypeople will find that this book both enlightens and equips them for serious discussion of troubling spiritual questions.

God S Command written by J. E. Hare and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015 with Philosophy categories.
This work focuses on divine command, and in particular the theory that what makes something obligatory is that God commands it, and what makes something wrong is that God commands us not to do it. Focusing on the Abrahamic faiths, eminent scholar John E. Hare explains that two experiences have had to be integrated. The first is that God tells us to do something, or not to do something. The second is that we have to work out ourselves what to do and what not to do. The difficulty has come in establishing the proper relation between them. In Christian reflection on this, two main traditions have emerged, divine command theory and natural law theory. Hare successfully defends a version of divine command theory, but also shows that there is considerable overlap with some versions of natural law theory. He engages with a number of Christian theologians, particularly Karl Barth, and extends into a discussion of divine command within Judaism and Islam. The work concludes by examining recent work in evolutionary psychology, and argues that thinking of our moral obligations as produced by divine command offers us some help in seeing how a moral conscience could develop in a way that is evolutionarily stable.
