Ethics And The Scholarship Of Teaching And Learning written by Lisa M. Fedoruk and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-09-07 with Education categories.

This book addresses issues related to ethics and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and pays special attention to ethical concerns and experiences that have arisen from engaging in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) work. The book draws on a range of research projects, theoretical frameworks and narrative experiences to provide multiple perspectives of how meaning is made of research ethics in SoTL, academic community and REB partnerships, experiences of Students as Partners in SoTL, and ethically-minded approaches to teaching, learning and inquiry. Specifically, this edited book includes ethical practices that have become increasingly expansive in an ever-evolving academic environment such as navigating pandemic pedagogy and data ownership due to increased online content. In addition, contributions pertaining to academic community partnerships between REBs and faculty detail realistic narratives and lessons learned about how higher education can become more equitable, diverse and inclusive. Subsequently, decolonial ethics for teaching and learning in higher education, as well as participatory parity, exemplify the need for SoTL practitioners to be responsive to the social and cultural realities of a global context in ways that address social inequities and social responsibility. Relational ethics by way of student perspectives on vulnerability and classroom-based SoTL research underscore the need for students to be taught about their own agency as a means of providing student voice within SoTL work. Lastly, this book celebrates how ethically-minded approaches to teaching, learning and inquiry uncover strategies and pedagogy that encourage concepts such as ethical imagination and systems and design thinking practices.

How can education become a transformative experience for all learners and teachers? The contributors to this volume contend that the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) can provide a strong foundation for the role of education in promoting social justice. The collection features contributions by an array of educators and scholars, highlighting the various ways that learners and teachers can prepare for and engage with social justice concerns. The essays offer reflections on the value of SoTL in relation to educational ethics, marginalized groups, community service and activism, counter narratives, and a range of classroom practices. Although the contributors work in a variety of disciplines and employ different theoretical frameworks, they are united by the conviction that education should improve our lives by promoting equity and social justice.

Alternative Conceptions Of Civil Society written by Simone Chambers and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-06 with Philosophy categories.

The idea of civil society has long been central to the Western liberal-democratic tradition, where it has been seen as a crucial site for the development and pursuit of basic liberal values such as individual freedom, social pluralism, and democratic citizenship. This book considers how a host of other ethical traditions define civil society. Unlike most studies of the subject, which focus on a particular region or tradition, it considers a range of ethical traditions rarely addressed in one volume: libertarianism, critical theory, feminism, liberal egalitarianism, natural law, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Confucianism. It considers the extent to which these traditions agree or disagree on how to define civil society's limits and how to evaluate its benefits and harms. A variety of distinguished advocates and interpreters of these traditions present in-depth explorations of how these various traditions think of ethical pluralism within societies, asking how a society should respond to diversity among its members. Together they produce a work rich with original insights on a wide range of subjects about which little has been written to date. An excellent starting point for a comparative ethics of civil society, this book concludes that while the concept of civil society originated in the liberal tradition, it is quickly becoming an important focus for a truly cross-cultural dialogue. In addition to the editors, the contributors are Michael Banner, Hasan Hanafi, Loren E. Lomasky, Richard Madsen, Michael A. Mosher, Michael Pakaluk, Anne Philips, Adam B. Seligman, Suzanne Last Stone, and Michael Walzer.
