The Maximal Factorizations Of The Finite Simple Groups And Their Automorphism Groups written by Martin W. Liebeck and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Mathematics categories.

The main result describes completely the maximal factorizations of all the finite simple groups and their automorphism groups. As a consequence, a classification of the maximal subgroups of the finite alternating and symmetric groups is obtained.

Constant Mean Curvature Immersions Of Enneper Type written by Henry C. Wente and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Mathematics categories.

This memoir is devoted to the case of constant mean curvature surfaces immersed in [bold]R3. We reduce this geometrical problem to finding certain integrable solutions to the Gauss equation. Many new and interesting examples are presented, including immersed cylinders in [bold]R3 with embedded Delaunay ends and [italic]n-lobes in the middle, and one-parameter families of immersed constant mean curvature tori in [bold]R3. We examine minimal surfaces in hyperbolic three-space, which is in some ways the most complicated case.

Weak Type Estimates For Cesaro Sums Of Jacobi Polynomial Series written by Sagun Chanillo and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Mathematics categories.

This work completely characterizes the behaviour of Cesaro means of any order of the Jacobi polynomials. In particular, pointwise estimates are derived for the Cesaro mean kernel. Complete answers are given for the convergence almost everywhere of partial sums of Cesaro means of functions belonging to the critical L ]p spaces. This characterization is deduced from weak type estimates for the maximal partial sum operator. The methods used are fairly general and should apply to other series of special functions.

Phantom Homology written by Melvin Hochster and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Mathematics categories.

This book uses a powerful new technique, tight closure, to provide insight into many different problems that were previously not recognized as related. The authors develop the notion of weakly Cohen-Macaulay rings or modules and prove some very general acyclicity theorems. These theorems are applied to the new theory of phantom homology, which uses tight closure techniques to show that certain elements in the homology of complexes must vanish when mapped to well-behaved rings. These ideas are used to strengthen various local homological conjectures. Initially, the authors develop the theory in positive characteristic, but it can be extended to characteristic 0 by the method of reduction to characteristic $p$. The book would be suitable for use in an advanced graduate course in commutative algebra.

Enright Shelton Theory And Vogan S Problem For Generalized Principal Series written by Brian D. Boe and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Mathematics categories.

This book investigates the composition series of generalized principal series representations induced from a maximal cuspidal parabolic subgroup of a real reductive Lie group. Boe and Collingwood study when such representations are multiplicity-free (Vogan's Problem #3) and the problem of describing their composition factors in closed form. The results obtained are strikingly similar to those of Enright and Shelton for highest weight modules. Connections with two different flag variety decompositions are discussed.

Sum Of Even Powers Of Real Linear Forms written by Bruce Arie Reznick and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Mathematics categories.

This work initiates a systematic analysis of the representation of real forms of even degree as sums of powers of linear forms and the resulting implications in real algebraic geometry, number theory, combinatorics, functional analysis, and numerical analysis. The proofs utilize elementary techniques from linear algebra, convexity, number theory, and real algebraic geometry and many explicit examples and relevant historical remarks are presented.

Axiomization Of Passage From Local Structure To Global Object written by Paul Feit and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Mathematics categories.

Requiring only familiarity with the terminology of categories, this book will interest algebraic geometers and students studying schemes for the first time. Feit translates the geometric intuition of local structure into a purely categorical format, filling a gap at the foundations of algebraic geometry. The main result is that, given an initial category ${\mathcal C}$ of ""local"" objects and morphisms, there is a canonical enlargement of ${\mathcal C}$ to a category ${\mathcal C}^{gl}$ which contains all 'global' objects whose local structure derives from ${\mathcal C}$ and which is functorially equivalent to the traditional notion of 'global objects'. Using this approach, Feit unifies definitions for numerous technical objects of algebraic geometry, including schemes, Tate's rigid analytic spaces, and algebraic spaces.

Here are sixteen tales of scientific discovery. In their own words, Australian women scientists tell the stories of their lives, their work and the secrets of their success. Until now, their world-famous achievements have not been widely known in their own country. In this remarkable book all talk candidly about their careers, describing not just the obstacles that many encountered--personal, social and institutionalised discrimination--but also their inspirations and influences.

Neumann Systems For The Algebraic Akns Problem written by Randolph James Schilling and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Mathematics categories.

This work is concerned with an algebraically completely integrable Hamiltonian system whose solutions may be used to describe the finite gap solutions of the AKNS spectral problem, a first order two-by-two matrix linear system. Trace formulas, constraints, Lax paris, and constants of motion are obtained using Krichever's algebraic inverse spectral transform. Computations are carried out explicityly over the class of spectral problems with square matrix coefficients.
