The Mind of the Master Class tells of America's greatest historical tragedy. It presents the slaveholders as men and women, a great many of whom were intelligent, honorable, and pious. It asks how people who were admirable in so many ways could have presided over a social system that proved itself an enormity and inflicted horrors on their slaves. The South had formidable proslavery intellectuals who participated fully in transatlantic debates and boldly challenged an ascendant capitalist ('free-labor') society. Blending classical and Christian traditions, they forged a moral and political philosophy designed to sustain conservative principles in history, political economy, social theory, and theology, while translating them into political action. Even those who judge their way of life most harshly have much to learn from their probing moral and political reflections on their times - and ours - beginning with the virtues and failings of their own society and culture.

The Revolution Of 1861 written by Andre M. Fleche and has been published by Univ of North Carolina Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-01 with History categories.

It was no coincidence that the Civil War occurred during an age of violent political upheaval in Europe and the Americas. Grounding the causes and philosophies of the Civil War in an international context, Andre M. Fleche examines how questions of national self-determination, race, class, and labor the world over influenced American interpretations of the strains on the Union and the growing differences between North and South. Setting familiar events in an international context, Fleche enlarges our understanding of nationalism in the nineteenth century, with startling implications for our understanding of the Civil War. Confederates argued that European nationalist movements provided models for their efforts to establish a new nation-state, while Unionists stressed the role of the state in balancing order and liberty in a revolutionary age. Diplomats and politicians used such arguments to explain their causes to thinkers throughout the world. Fleche maintains that the fight over the future of republican government in America was also a battle over the meaning of revolution in the Atlantic world and, as such, can be fully understood only as a part of the world-historical context in which it was fought.

Discover Your Subconscious Power! Historian and New Thought scholar Mitch Horowitz shines a new light on Joseph Murphy's landmark, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, showing how to maximize Murphy's methods, reverse setbacks, and remove mental blocks. He demonstrates how current insights from mind-body medicine and quantum theory show you how to strengthen Murphy’s techniques. In this powerful Master Class: • Mitch reveals posthumous letters from Murphy's readers and responds to their questions and problems; • advises what do to in the face of setbacks or failure; • writes bluntly about lifting self-imposed mental blocks that sap your abilities; • explores how Murphy's methods address the complexities of life today—and faces the facts of where they fail to and how to improve upon them; • weds current insights from placebo studies, neuroplasticity, and quantum theory to Murphy’s work; • provides a comprehensive timeline of Murphy’s life and little-known biographical details, including Murphy’s tutelage under Neville Goddard’s teacher Abdullah. Paris Match: “Mitch Horowitz, a specialist in American esotericism, traces the history of positive thinking and its influence ... takes us far from naive doctrines.” HuffPost: “Has the rare gift of making the esoteric accessible to discerning masses.” Boing Boing: “Horowitz comes across as the real deal: he is an authentic ‘adept mind’ and he knows his stuff.”

Find out what is the difference between a Master Mind and any other form of Mind, how to achieve the true mental power and efficiency. The ordinary mind is a mere creature of circumstances, driven hither and thither by the winds of outside forces, and lacking the guidance of the hand on the wheel, and being without the compass; while the Master Mind proceeds in the true course mapped out by Intelligence, and determined by will. The Master Mind is consciously, deliberately, and voluntarily built up, cultivated, developed, and used; whereas the ordinary mind is usually unconsciously built up, cultivated, and developed by the force and power of impressions from the outside world, and is usually employed and used with little or no conscious direction by its own will. The ordinary mind is like a dumb, driven animal, while the Master Mind is like the strong-willed, intelligent, masterful Man. William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was a prolific writer. His works treat themes related to the mental world, occultism, divination, psychic reality, and mankind's nature. They constitute a basis for what Atkinson called "New Psychology" or "New Thought".
