In a faraway village, a boy intently watches as his grandmother reads his cards. After she tells him his destiny will be forever tied to the failings of taught lessons and that he must overcome corruption and power with a pure heart, Michael suddenly realizes there is a world before him that harbors secrets and that nothing is as it seems. Meanwhile, moments after a young priest finds something in the sky he was never meant to see, he lies dead on the floor of a computer room as hard drives melt and a lone man ensures this is not the time for discovery. Years later, Father Michael Vaetas is vacillating between his identity as priest and well-heeled academician as he learns the Papal Council for Scientific Investigations has appointed him to the section for astronomical studies. While Vaetas hopes he will finally be freed from the iron grip of the church, he instead is told the Council wants him to find a way to end time. As Vaetas travels through time on a dangerous journey to the truth, age-old religious institutions and faith collide as a negative power seeks to destroy the heritage of man. In this exciting science fiction tale, loyalties are tested and a power is forced to prove its merit as a priest attempts to fulfill his destiny and all wonder whether the answer is shining among the stars.

Two decades ago, Schelling first resurfaced in Žižek’s Indivisible Remainder, and the same argumentative move of redeploying Schellingian themes for contemporary ends has continued to play a significant role in critical theory since (Markus Gabriel, Iain Hamilton Grant, Jean-Luc Nancy). All the articles in this volume attempt to take seriously the idea of Schelling as a contemporary philosopher: Schelling is read in dialogue with key figures in the canon of European philosophy and critical theory (Alain Badiou, Émilie du Châtelet, Gilles Deleuze, Paul de Man, Quentin Meillassoux, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Gilbert Simondon, Slavoj Žižek), as well as in light of recent trends in analytic philosophy (Brandomian pragmatism, powers-based metaphysics and semantic naturalism) – and such readings are not meant merely to highlight Schellingian influences or resonances in contemporary thinking but rather to challenge and interrogate current orthodoxies by insisting upon the contemporaneity of Schellingian speculation. That is, the aim is both to evaluate and constructively build upon this repeated return to Schelling: to probe, to diagnose and to experiment on the latent Schellingianisms of the present and the future. This book was originally published as a special issue of Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities.

We Are of Eternal Love is an adventure through time and space. Compiling daily channeling over the course of a year, the author shares with us her discovery of experiencing multidimensional, parallel lives. She presents a remarkable and thought-provoking description of three entities, how they are connected, and how they influence each others lives. This is a living book that the author continues to experience, for as the author discovered, it is in the unlimited flow of the Spirit that resides within us, that has no boundaries, no limitations, no conditions to meet. It simply is, and it flows freely without restrictions. But in order for us to recognize and experience the same, we must put ourselves within that flow to allow it to be so. We must let go of the rock on the river bank, let go of our conditions, and allow ourselves to flow freely down that river of life. In doing so, we will round the corner which is currently out of sight, but which will present us with all that we have ever dreamed. We are never alone. We are of eternal love.

New York, more than any other city, has held a special fascination for filmmakers and viewers. In every decade of Hollywood filmmaking, artists of the screen have fixated upon this fascinating place for its tensions and promises, dazzling illumination and fearsome darkness. From Street Scene and Breakfast at Tiffany's to Rosemary's Baby, The Warriors, and 25th Hour, the sixteen essays in this book explore the cinematic representation of New York as a city of experience, as a locus of ideographic characters and spaces, as a city of moves and traps, and as a site of allurement and danger.

Cinematic Projections written by Luke Hockley and has been published by Indiana University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Art categories.

An introduction to the world of postJungian film studies, this book redresses the dominance of Freudian theories of cinema and guides individuals through the intricacies of Jungian thought. In so doing, it provides the basis on which to construct a contemporary theory of cinema. Drawing on research into detective films and the myths of detection, Hockley weaves together psychological analysis with textual interpretation. The resulting hypothesis suggests that watching films is an intensely personal experience in which viewers, according to individual needs and desires, project and identify with films and their characters.
