Raise happy and healthy plant-powered children with more than 125 family favorite recipes by Vegucated film creator Marisa Miller Wolfson, plant-based chef Laura Delhauer, and parents in the vegan community. “The Vegucated Family Table comes at a perfect time, when it’s never been more urgent for people to live more in line with their own values.”—Senator Cory Booker For both vegans and the veg-curious, The Vegucated Family Table answers the question every caregiver ponders on a daily basis: “What should I feed my child?” But this book goes a step further, showing parents how to navigate the early years of childhood as a vegan, giving not only recipes and nutritional advice but also tips for holidays, packed lunches, play dates, and more. Unlike other family-oriented vegan cookbooks, The Vegucated Family Table is the first to focus on raising vegans “from scratch,” from five months through elementary school. A Q&A section focuses on nutrition, with advice by renowned pediatric plant-based expert Reed Mangels. With more than 125 rigorously tested recipes for beloved dishes like Baby Mac-o-Lantern and Cheeze, Chickpea Sweet Potato Croquettes, PBJ Smoothie Bowl, Tempeh Tacos, Baby’s First Birthday Smash Cake, and more, this book will become the go-to reference for parents raising vegan children.

Before actors and Food Network stars Jazz, Jake, Jurnee, and Jussie Smollett conquered Hollywood, they spent their childhood crisscrossing the United States. Moving coast to coast thirteen times, they car-tripped to small towns and big cities across America. But no matter where they lived, two things remained constant: their incredible family feasts and the long, wooden kitchen table where they shared food and lived their lives. Each time they arrived in a new home, their mother would transform planks of hard wood into a smooth, varnished butcher block table in a beloved ritual that took three days. That hand-crafted table would become the heart of the Smollett clan, where the most important and cherished events and accomplishments, no matter how large or small, were honored, and where holidays were celebrated: Christmas, Easter, Passover, Chanukah, birthdays, milestones. With a mother from New Orleans and a Jewish father from New York who met and married in California, the Smollett kids were exposed to diverse culinary heritages and grew up open to all the deliciousness the world had to offer. In this warm and personal book, the Smolletts invite us all to take a seat at their table and enjoy the good times and good food that help families thrive. The Family Table includes more than 130 delicious, comforting recipes that pay tribute to their past and present, including: Crispy Beef Lettuce Wraps Potato Crab Au Gratin Brown Butter Lamb Chops Honey Sriracha Chicken Skewers 7th Ward Gumbo North African Chicken Stew Cast-Iron Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie These favorite recipes from the Smolletts are suitable for intimate dinners and fabulous feasts alike, but more than that, The Family Table is a remarkable portrait of a loving, all-American family, rich with traditions that they continue to build to this day.

The Family Table is an aptly named cookbook. Be prepared for warm, funny, and memorable stories spun from generations of a southern family and punctuated with prized recipes. The well-tested dishes you can make with this cookbook will be welcome additions to your kitchen repertoire, but you also have the chance to experience family lore unfolding. You'll feel a kinship with the honorable patriarch GrandSir, be swept up in tales of Grammy's youth, and wish terribly that you too had been able to bunk with the giggling Eubanks cousins at the island cottage. Paula Eubanks' family recipes allow us to taste the past, but the stories and photographs in this collection allow us a figurative taste of history as well -- and at a close, personal level that you rarely find in the biography section of the library. The author is an artist and her natural aesthetic awareness and enjoyment is soaked into her cookbook, a joie de vivre that will forever inspire your own role in daily life, family history, and cooking.

Food has always been an important part of my family; from my childhood days sitting on the counter next to mom, sneaking licks as she stirred an afternoon batch of cookies, to the laughs and tears we had over conversations around a dinner table. It's not the food per say, but the community and love and fellowship that was shared over it. Food often meant stopping, taking a step back from the rush of a day, and simply enjoying a moment together. This graphic design project uses classical typesetting and illustration to showcase a collection of recipes that have been, and always will be, central to the meals shared around our table. I collected the quotes and recipes through interviews and conversations with each of my family members. The foods and stories on the pages reflect the memories and traditions that surround them. Each recipe, though some seem small and simple, represent the every day beauty and importance of stopping to share food.
