Die These dieser Publikation ist: Die zunehmende wirtschaftliche und politische Globalisierung bedarf dringend einer Globalisierung der theologischen und religionspädagogischen Ausbildung. [Theological Education in the Age of Increased Globalization. Ecumenical and Interreligious Study Programs in India, Israel, Japan and Lebanon] This book publishes contributions to an international conference organized by the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity and the Ecumenical Center of the two Protestant churches in Hesse in Frankfurt (Main). Both facilitate ecumenical, intercultural and interreligious training programs for students and pastor in cooperation with their partners in Beirut, Hyderabad und Kyoto. The aim is to understand better the learning achievements through their evaluation and comparison. Additionally, also the oldest study program in Jerusalem was considered. On the basis of reports by the local organizers and the alumni, the effects on faith, theology and church practice were considered. The thesis of this publication is that the increasing economic and political globalization requires a globalization of the theological and religious education.

Es geht dabei insbesondere um die Frage, wie „der Andere“ als Gegenüber eines „Wir“ konstruiert wird. Gerade in Zeiten globaler Migration und erstarkenden Rechtsextremismus muss Theologie sprachfähig bleiben, um den drängenden Fragen der Gegenwart Antwortangebote bieten zu können. Postcolonialism refers not only to the historical epoch after the end of the colonial era, but also to a theoretical concept for the analysis of power relations. In German-speaking theology, this concept has so far received little attention. In the bilingual volume Postcolonialism, theology and the construction of the other, scholars of all theological disciplines, including religious studies, explore the heuristic possibilities that postcolonialism provides for their subject. In particular, the question is how “the other” is constructed as the counterpart of a “we”. In times of global migration and growing right-wing extremism, theology must remain capable to offer answers to the urgent questions of the present.

This volume reflects on the values behind the ILO's Decent Work Agenda and provides a forum for contributors from various humanistic, philosophical, spiritual and religious traditions to express their views on the significance of work at all levels of society, from the individual person to the global community. Common, universal values are explored, as well as differences, in order to shed more light on the concept of decent work. In all societies, there is an ethical dimension to work, connected to the rights and entitlements of those who perform it. It is hoped that this type of approach will be inspiring. Before embarking on major international strategic papers, legal instruments and public policies, the systematic consultation of an interfaith and humanistic forum would enable cultural and religious views to be taken into consideration.
