Eserin ilk baskısı olan “Buğdayın Hikâyesi”, Türkiye Ziraat Odaları Birliği tarafından 2011 yılı Şubatında basılmış ve kısa sürede dağıtımı tamamlanmıştır. “Topraktan Sofraya BUĞDAY” ismiyle yayınlanan bu ikinci baskı ise yeni ilaveler ve bazı düzeltmelerle, ilk baskı esas alınarak hazırlanmıştır. Kitap, ilk baskısındaki altı bölüme ilave olarak, “Türkiye Buğday Ekolojisi”ni ihtiva etmektedir. Güncellenmiş I. BÖLÜM buğdayın orijini, Ülkemiz ve dünya ekonomileri için önemi, besin değeri ve sorunları ile üretiminde izlenecek stratejileri kapsamaktadır. II. BÖLÜM’de buğdayın büyüme ve gelişme devreleri ile bunları etkileyen çevre şartları ele alınmıştır. Büyüme ve gelişme devrelerinde buğdayın ihtiyaç duyduğu sıcaklık, nem ve ışık gibi çevre koşulları ile toprak istekleri hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Bu bölüm, -ilk baskıya göre- yeni bilgilerin ilavesi ile genişletilmiştir. Kitabın III. BÖLÜM’ü, ülkemizde verimi ve kaliteyi etkileyen önemli hastalık ve zararlılara ayrılmış, hastalık ve zararlıların oluştuğu şartlar ile teşhislerine yararlı olacak bilgilere ağırlık verilmiştir. Mücadele ile ilgili konular genel olarak ele alınmış, ancak kısa zamanda yeni ilaçların geliştirildiği kimyasal mücadele konusuna girilmemiş, bu alanda müracaat edilecek kaynaklar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Birinci baskıya göre hastalıklarla mücadelede kültürel tedbirler daha detaylı anlatılmıştır. IV. BÖLÜM’de kalite konusu ele alınmış; önemli kalite kriterleri ve bunları etkileyen faktörler, kalite belirleme yöntemleri ve analiz sonuçlarının yorumlanmasına yardımcı olacak bilgilere geniş olarak yer verilmiştir. V. BÖLÜM’de kârlı bir üretimin unsurları ele alınmış, yüksek verimden ziyade girdi maliyetlerini olabildiğince azaltarak ve üretimde sürdürülebilirliği sağlayarak istikrarlı ve kazançlı çiftçiliğin yolları anlatılmıştır. VI. BÖLÜM, Türkiye iklimi ve arazi sınıfları hakkındadır. Ülkemizin iklim ve toprak özellikleri bakımından çeşitlilik göstermesi, değişik bölgelerimiz için tavsiye edilen buğday çeşitleri ve yetiştirme tekniklerinin farklı olmasını doğurmuş; bu tavsiyelerde iklim ve toprak varlığımız belirleyici iki unsur olmuştur. Bu nedenlerle Türkiye iklimi ve arazisi müstakil bir bölümde ele alınmıştır. Son bölümde (VII. BÖLÜM), tamamen üreticilere yönelik bilgilere yer verilmiş, bu çerçevede Ülkemizin değişik ekolojileri için geliştirilen yetiştirme teknikleri birinci baskıya göre daha detaylı olarak anlatılmıştır.
