The efficient delivery of cellular constituents to their proper location is of fundamental importance for all cells and is of particular interest to neuroscientists, because of the unique functions and complex architecture of neurons. Protein Trafficking in Neurons examines mechanisms of protein trafficking and the role of trafficking in neuronal functioning from development to plasticity to disease. The book is divided into seven sections that review mechanisms of protein transport, the role of protein trafficking in synapse formation, exo- and endocytosis, transport of receptors, trafficking of ion channels and transporters, comparison of trafficking mechanisms in neuronal vs. non-neuronal cell types, and the relationship between trafficking and neuronal diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Prion Diseases. Provides a comprehensive examination of membrane/protein movement in neuronal function Sections on synapse development, synaptic transmission, and the role of trafficking in neurological disease Includes a focus on Molecular Mechanisms Illustrated with color summary pictures The only book examining protein trafficking and its functional implications, written by leaders in the field

This second edition provides updated and new chapters on T-Cell trafficking. In addition to detailed experimental procedures, the interested reader will find informative introductory chapters on the relevance of T-Cell trafficking in thymic population and maturation, traffic through secondary lymphoid organs during ‘physiological’ resolving inflammation and during immune responses, as well as T-Cell trafficking in chronic inflammatory diseases. Importantly, chapters cover methods from in silico modeling of cellular interactions, in vitro adhesion assays, through ex vivo functional assays to integrated intravital modeling of T-Cell trafficking through organs. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series format, each methods chapter includes a short introduction to the topic, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and practical, T-Cell Trafficking: Methods and Protocols, Second Edition aims to be an essential point of reference for those new to the field of T-Cell trafficking, or to those looking to expand their technical capabilities.

The highly structured eucaryotic cell with its complex division of biochemical labour requires a distinct protein complement in each cellular structure and compartment. Nuclear coded and cytosolically synthesized polypeptides are specifically sorted to every corner of the cell in a post- or co-translational manner. The presence of separate genomes and protein translation machineries in plastids and mitochondria requires further coordination not only on the transcriptional, translational but also most likely on the protein import level. Numerous different protein transport systems have developed and coexist within plant cells to ensure the specific and selective composition of every sub-cellular compartment. This volume summarizes the current knowledge on protein trafficking in plant cells. Aside from the fundamental aspects in cell biology of how specific pre-protein sorting and translocation across biological membranes is achieved, a major focus is on transport, modification and deposition of plant storage proteins. The increasing use of plants as bioreactors to provide custom-designed proteins of different usage requires detailed understanding of these events. This text is directed not only at students and professionals in plant cell and molecular biology but also at those involved in horticulture and plant breeding. It is intended to serve as a text and guide for graduate-level courses on plant cell biology and as a valuable supplement to courses in plant physiology and development. Scientists in other disciplines who wish to learn more about protein translocation in plants will also find this text an up-to-date source of information and reference.

Endocytosis And Signaling written by Christophe Lamaze and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-10 with Science categories.

This book focuses on the context dependency of cell signaling by showing how the endosomal system helps to structure and regulate signaling pathways. The location and concentration of signaling nodes regulate their activation cycles and engagement with distinct effector pathways. Whilst many cell signaling pathways are initiated from the cell surface, endocytosis provides an opportunity for modulating signaling networks’ output. In this book, first a series of reviews describe the endocytic and endosomal system and show how these subcellular platforms sort and regulate a wide range of signaling pathway components and phenotypic outputs. The book then reviews the latest scientific insights into how endocytic trafficking and subcellular location modulate a set of major pathways that are essential to normal cellular function and organisms’ development.
