Climbing as an activity has a long and proud history of ascending mountains and steep walls. Still, as a newly acknowledged Olympic sport, climbing has a short history of systematic training and injury prevention. Sport climbing is divided in three disciplines (bouldering, lead climbing, speed climbing) that requires different physiological and psychological abilities witch again lead to different mechanical loading and thereby possible injuries. Furthermore, climbing is practiced by a diversified population from the recreational climber to the professional athlete. One of the things that separates climbing from most other Olympic sports is that a vast majority of the athletes operates outside the federations. Even internationally high performing climbers are not organized or part of a team with trainers and health personnel.

This is an open access book. The COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years has influenced how educational system works. Online learning became the primal policy taken by all institutions in the world to lower the risk of the virus spread. Despite the drawbacks of the online learning, teachers and students were accustomed with the distant learning through web meetings, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other online learning platforms. In that time, topics under digital learning and education 5.0 were the main stakes in academic disseminations. This year some institutions start to conduct their teaching and learning process classically as before the pandemic, others are still continuing online and not few are in hybrid. This leaves a question: what learning reform should be made in post-pandemic era? This conference invites researchers, experts, teachers and students to discuss the coping solutions of the question. It is important for them to contribute to the understanding of re-imaging online education for better futures, innovative learning design, new skills for living and working in new times, global challenge of education, learning and teaching with blended learning, flipped learning, integrating life skills for students in the curriculum, developing educators for the future distance learning, humanities learning in the digital era, assessment and measurement in education, challenges and transformations in education, technology in teaching and learning, new learning and teaching models. What you are holding in your hands is probably the best overview of activities in sports engineering available at the time of printing; i. e. the state of the art in summer 2006. It is the result of so many people's work to whom we are indebted that it is difficult to name them: there are the authors, the scientific advisory board, the scientific committee, the theme patrons, the publisher and printer, the advisors of whatever kind - and, here we have to make an exception, there is Ingo and Amanda. Nobody who has been part of the production of this book could have done without them, at the very least us: they handled issues you wouldn't even believe could tum up with efficiency and charm. Thanks, IngoValtingoier; thanks, Amanda Staley. In the accumulation of the contributions and the preparation of the proceedings we encountered one development that we were very happy about: the sports engineering community keeps growing - in the number or researchers and experts involved. but also in the breadth of disciplines and institutions contributing. This should definitely be interpreted as a positive development - even though in the evaluation of contributions this lead to a number of intricate discussions.
