Frontiers of Translation in Korean Language Education makes the case for the continuing relevance of translation in Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) education. This book presents practical case studies of developing and implementing translation in KFL on scales ranging from extended programs – for example, the integration of a translation and interpreting internship program which responds to local community needs into the higher education curriculum – to single activities such as the comparison of English to Korean literary translations of the same source text to improve linguistic and cultural awareness. More theoretically-oriented works on the relationship of translation in KFL with fast-developing translation technology, the language of South Korean mass media, and the social processes of globalisation, are included alongside practical contributions. The substantive contributions are bookended by an introduction and conclusion, which provide overviews of the history and current disposition of translation in KFL and a prospectus for its future, respectively. Drawing on the work of researchers and practitioners based in higher education institutions across North America, Europe, and South Korea, both the practical and theoretical strands included in this collection come together to provide a well-rounded account of the most recent developments in Korean-language pedagogy, which will appeal to language teachers, particularly Korean language teachers, and the institutions that employ and train them.

The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Education will present the state of the art of the place and role of translation in educational contexts worldwide. By adopting a transdisciplinary perspective, the handbook will bring together the various fields of scholarly enquiry and practice that make a valuable contribution to enlarging the notion of translation and diversifying its uses in education. Each contribution provides an overview of the historical background to a given educational setting. Focusing on current research approaches and empirical findings, this volume outlines the development of pedagogical approaches, methods, assessment and curriculum design. The handbook also examines examples of pedagogies that integrate translation in the curriculum, the teaching method’s approach, design and procedure as well as assessment. Based on a multilingual and applied-oriented approach, the handbook is essential reading for postgraduate students, researchers and advanced undergraduate students of Translation Studies, and educationalists and educators in the 21st century post-global era. Teaching The Translation Of Cultural Items written by Klaus Mundt and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-22 with Education categories.
This book provides concrete pedagogical suggestions for teaching the translation of cultural items, including so-called ‘untranslatables’. It is underpinned by sound educational theory and empirical data, and sheds light onto a complex and under-researched pedagogical area by testing the effectiveness of established teaching approaches. The book adds to the repertoire of translation pedagogy by presenting elements of learner psychology, positive psychology and humanistic education as vital parts of translator education, in particular when engaging with the great challenge posed by the translation of cultural elements and learner barriers and anxieties. The book argues that fostering knowledge building and training research skills will contribute to developing resilience and the ability to strategically engage with the challenge of translating cultural items in a holistic manner, i.e. as contributors to a text’s achievement. At the same time, it cautions educators against uncritical and exclusive subscription to specific pedagogical paradigms. The book is of relevance to translation teachers and scholars, as well those engaging in wider educational research revolving around complexity and threshold concepts. It is of interest to translation students who would like to explore new perspectives in the area of practical translation of cultural items.

Retour Interpreting written by Riccardo Moratto and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-31 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.
This book is a vital addition to the interpreting field, focusing on retour interpreting—interpreting from one’s native language (A) into a second language (B). This practice, once viewed as secondary, has become indispensable in today’s multilingual and multicultural contexts. As interpreters increasingly handle diverse language pairs and rising standards for bilingual communication, retour interpreting plays a critical role in bridging linguistic gaps. This book features contributions from leading experts who explore retour interpreting from theoretical, pedagogical, and practical perspectives. It examines the linguistic and cognitive challenges unique to interpreting into a non-native language, while also addressing the complex factors influencing effective B-language output. By highlighting the growing need for skilled retour interpreters, especially in multilingual institutions and post-colonial settings where former colonial languages often dominate, this book aligns itself with current professional demands. With eleven chapters, the book provides comprehensive insights into retour interpreting across different languages, contexts, and career stages. It is an essential resource for interpreters, trainers, and researchers, offering practical strategies and critical perspectives. By addressing a historically underexplored area, this work fills a significant gap, reinforcing the importance of retour interpreting in today's globalized world.
