Upside down Knitting, Quick knits on straight needles Dolls Clothes To fit 43 - 46cm Dolls I created these garments to fit the 46cm/18 inch Our Generation Dolls, and similar sized dolls. They have been created to enable the knitter to use their scraps of 8 ply yarn that they have left over from other projects. Of course, you are also able to buy a ball of 8 ply yarn to make them. On average I get two and sometimes three garments out of a 100g ball of yarn. It is fun to put together an outfit in the colours you like. Children love these garments and I have done my best to make them as play friendly as possible. In other words, it is easy for the little ones and the older children to dress and then undress their dolls. The most exceptional thing about these patterns is the fact that they are knitted on two needles, NO knitting in the round at all. I do not like knitting in the round be it on four needles or any other method. These patterns are worked from the neck down, I have used short rows to shape the garment where it is needed. I am sure that you will enjoy knitting these garments, and have fun doing so.

Sue and Roger attempt to resolve family conflicts and improve their living standards by migrating with their two small children from England to the warmer Great Southern Land to become 'fair dinkum Aussies'. Set from the 1970s, buckle up for a bittersweet roller-coast ride as they encounter the British Australia House, a homicidal charter flight to Australia, an immigration hostel, and befriend true blue Aussies who are suspicious of 'ten pound poms' and anyone who whinges or drinks tea, rather than coffee or beer! Their adventure takes an unexpected right turn as they experience life in a Pacific Archipelago for a while. This is an inspirational, laugh-out-loud story of one small family's triumph over unbelievable odds. Their adventures and challenges of job satisfaction, fishing, family, cultural differences, and death is told with a self-deprecating humour - as Roger and Sue inherit the Aussie witticism.

Bill 'Swampy' Marsh has been on yet another adventure, this time gathering more stories from outback towns and pubs; from the green fields of Tasmania to the vast red sands of Simpson Desert. The unique characters of the outback will touch your heart as Swampy presents all the drama and delight of life in remote Australia. There are tales of all-night revelry, the pub that became a refuge during a bushfire, the thirteen-year-old sent from the city to work on a remote sheep station, the priest with a sideline in illegal poker games, a sighting of the elusive yowie, a murder or two and a few ghosts thrown in for good measure. And, yes, the saddest story of all - the pub with no beer. If there's a good story out there, Swampy has captured it in this book. Bill 'Swampy' Marsh is an award-winning writer and performer of stories, songs and plays. He spent most of his youth in rural south-western NSW and now lives on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsular. Swampy is one of ABC Books' bestselling authors of Australian stories; this is his twenty-third book.

Basics Design: Typography, follows on from Format and Layout to examine a third, fundamental area of graphic design. Typography is the means by which a written idea is given a visual form. The selection of this visual form from hundreds, if not thousands, of typefaces can dramatically affect the legibility of the written idea and a reader’s feelings towards it. Effective use of typography can produce a neutral effect or rouse the passions, symbolise artistic, political or philosophical movements, or even express the personality of a person or organisation. Typefaces vary from clear and distinguishable letterforms that flow easily before the eye and are suitable for extended blocks of text, to more dramatic and eye-catching typefaces that grab attention and are used in newspaper headlines and advertisements. This book’s aim is to impart a comprehensive understanding of typography, to explore its history, theory and practice. Aimed at both students and practising designers, it provides a thorough examination of how typography informs other aspects of creative design.
