What does it really mean to reconstruct a city after a natural, biological or man-made disaster? Is the repair and reinstatement of buildings and infrastructure sufficient without the mending of social fabric? The authors of this volume believe that the true measure of success should be societal. After all, a city without people is no city at all. Invisible Reconstruction takes the view that effective disaster mitigation and recovery require interdisciplinary tactics. Historian Lucia Patrizio Gunning and urbanist Paola Rizzi expand beyond the confines of individual disciplines or disaster studies to bring together academics and practitioners from a wide variety of disciplines, comparing strategies and outcomes in different scenarios and cultures from South America, Europe and Asia. From cultural heritage and public space to education and participation, contributors reflect on the interconnection of people, culture and environment and on constructive approaches to strengthening the intangible ties to increase resilience and reduce vulnerability. By bringing practical examples of how communities and individuals have reacted to or prepared for disaster, the publication proposes a shift in public policy to ensure that essential physical reinforcement and rebuilding are matched by attention to societal needs. Invisible Reconstruction is essential reading for policymakers, academics and practitioners working to reduce the impact of natural, biological and man-made disaster or to improve post-disaster recovery.

Mussolini S Fascist Philosopher written by M. E. Moss and has been published by Peter Lang this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Philosophy, Italian categories.

Giovanni Gentile was one of the most important and controversial thinkers of twentieth-century Italy. His philosophy and fascist ideas reflect the defining characteristics of the Italian romantic rebellion against European and English enlightenment thinking. The Ariadne's thread, which runs through and unifies all of Gentile's thought, originates accordingly from his neo-Hegelian reaction to the philosophy of Kant and of Kant's immediate predecessors. The range of Gentile's ideas on pedagogy, logic, metaphysics, political theory, and aesthetics; the original way in which he developed and adapted the thoughts of Hegel, Fichte, and Marx; and finally, his description of himself as the philosopher of fascism all encourage us to revisit and re-evaluate his system. This book reveals how Gentile came to advocate his «actual idealism» and evaluates his systematic philosophy by making explicit inconsistencies that arise from within his system and by questioning his idealist assumptions.

En Attivit Della Relazione Educativa E Costruzione Del S written by Stefano Scarpa and has been published by tab edizioni this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-04 with Education categories.

Interventi di: Massimo Baldacci, Antonio Bellingreri, Giuseppe Bertagna, Franco Cambi, Enza Colicchi, Michele Corsi, Vincenzo Costa, Rita Fadda, Umberto Margiotta, Francesco Mattei, Franca Pinto Minerva, Maurizio Sibilio, Giancarla Sola, Giuseppe Spadafora, Carla Xodo.

Education Equality And Justice In The New Normal written by Inny Accioly and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-09 with Education categories.

Written by leading scholars and activists from Brazil, Chile, Greece, Italy, Malta, the UK, and the USA, this book shows how vitally important education is in addressing the complex social and political problems which have been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic. The growing protest and demonstrations worldwide, including the Black Lives Matter and environmental movements, have served as platforms to unmask the embedded racism, sexism, classism, and discrimination which are rooted in neo-colonial forms of exploitation. People are recognizing the intensification of the genocide of black youth, indigenous peoples, peasants and traditional communities in the global ghettos. The rising level of conscientization reached through these protests and demonstrations makes it clear that critical educators must refuse the return to neoliberal “normality” after pandemic. The chapters cover the tensions and contradictions that fuel debates in education concerning social distancing, collective illness, increasing social and economic inequality and privatization reforms. The contributors argue for social and environmental justice, the importance of educators and teacher unions, the role of environmental education, the need to guarantee cultural diversity and the strengthening of ancestral cultures. The book includes chapters by Noam Chomsky, Amy Goodman and Henry A. Giroux and a Foreword by Antonia Darder.
