This volume is divided into three major parts, each of which symbolizes a new virtuous circle that is added to the previous one in order to foster the dissemination of humanistic management (HM) among corporations and social institutions. After an introductory chapter explaining the concept of humanistic management and the plan behind this research project, the first part of the book is devoted to education. The authors address pedagogical strategies that can be used in higher education to introduce students to HM. In turn, the second part of the book focuses on the implementation of HM in corporations, while the third presents an approach for measuring and monetizing the social value generated by corporations through their economic activities. In the closing chapter, the editors illustrate how the three parts of the book can be combined to generate virtuous cycles in corporations.

Practicing business with a conscience leaves no sector untouched. It trickles into how we treat our employees; approach our work in general; address stakeholders; engage in accounting, financial, and production management practices; implement and manage information technology; communicate on a direct and indirect basis; and market what we stand for. Business has encountered an interesting evolution in the first two decades of the twenty-first century, with social media as a catalyst aiding greater understanding and improvement regarding the critical value of soft skills, workplace diversity, change readiness, moral responsibility, sustainable awareness, and a general socially responsible mindset. This amalgamate spirit of business as we envision it in both the near and far future has found its way in all segments of business education, research, and practice. Adhering to the global trend of increased responsibility and evoking a constructive change in the narrative of business, this Research Companion serves as a critical reference work for business scholars and practitioners in various settings. It brings together contributing scholars from multiple business areas, from a variety of cultures and locations of the world, in order to achieve the compilation of a reference work that will find an expansive appeal. Relative to the private sector, the public sector has always had a greater demand for scientific research in its running and decision making and, more recently, there has been a significant increase in the demand for research on humanism and ethics more broadly. In response, this book seeks to analyse the public sector through the lens of humanistic management, referring to its three-stepped approach – respect for human dignity, ethical reflection and decision-making, and stakeholder engagement. The establishment of a humanistic approach in the public sector should be a launchpad for humanistic transformation in businesses and in other organisations. With contributors and research from around the globe, this book explores topics such as the work-family balance, collective leadership, the COVID pandemic, environmental issues and public entrepreneurship. It will be of interest to researchers and students in the fields of business ethics, public management theory and practice, public management history and human resource management.

Humanistic Tourism written by Maria Della Lucia and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-29 with Business & Economics categories.
Human dignity has experienced limited attention in tourism studies. The interlinked dimensions of dignity in tourism urgently ask for broad avenues of future research, as tourism is both an information-intensive industry and an "experience good" resulting from the relationship and co-creation processes involving hosts and guests in different political, socio-economic, cultural, and environmental contexts. These contexts play a role in how an individual’s values, norms, and experiences may be experienced in tourism. This edited book is one of the first attempts to apply to tourism a humanistic management approach entailing a re-discovery of the value of human life, dignity, and awareness of the ethical dimensions of work. The book develops awareness of the contemporary relevance of the human dignity concept to interpret and manage the weaknesses of traditional approaches to tourism and cope with the challenges and new scenarios, including the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis. It presents ethical values and norms as both foundations and vehicles to dignify tourism stakeholders’ vision and mission (policy, strategies, and practices) as well as people/tourist beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. It grounds humanistic education as a pervasive mechanism to innovate tourism management contents and practices by offering to different targets new educational and training formats or framing differently traditional ones. Presenting both a critical and a positive approach to tourism management, the diversity of disciplinary approaches, case studies, and examples makes the book attractive to a variety of readers including tourism scholars, researchers, practitioners, and postgraduate students of management and organization disciplines.

Gig-workers are often not regarded as employees by the platforms they work with. Yet they do not always have all the freedoms enjoyed by independent contractors. The world of work is changing, and this is one area in which the new realities need to be better understood in order to promote human dignity, protect the vulnerable and foster flourishing. To achieve this, justice and fairness need to be researched and innovatively translated into new forms of work in diverse ways and in various cultures. This edited collection explores and examines ways in which the humanistic management and fairness considerations help to humanise the way gig-workers are treated, with particular attention paid to economies in the global south. Countries represented in the case study section are Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Nigeria, South Korea, and Uganda, and both traditional and innovative lenses of fairness and ethics are applied to these new forms of work. The book will be of great interest to scholars and students of work and employment, digital business, human resource management and business ethics.

This exciting new book from social equity authorities Sean McCandless and Susan T. Gooden demonstrates how public administration faculty can teach social equity across the curriculum, in practical terms. This edited collection features chapters from authors experienced in both public administration and in teaching social equity. Each chapter discusses teaching social equity in a particular class (Introduction to Public Administration, Organizational Dynamics and Theory, Human Resources, Policy Process, Research Methods, Capstones, and more) through distinct pedagogical practices that advance student learning (including case studies, community engagement projects, and simulations). The text captures an array of instructional approaches to social equity within public affairs education, particularly at the graduate level. It includes approaches from both established and newer instructors, across a diversity of universities. Most importantly, it is a resource to academics and practitioners alike who share a commitment to fairness in the implementation of public services.

Integrated Science: Science without Borders” is the first volume of the INTEGRATED SCIENCE Book series, aiming to publish the results of the most updated ideas and reviews in transdisciplinary fields and to highlight the integration of discrete disciplines, including formal sciences, physical-chemical sciences and engineering, biological sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. This volume primarily focuses on the research involving the integration of two or more academic fields offering an innovative, borderless view, which is one of the main focuses of the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN). The whole world is suffering from complex problems; these are borderless problems; thus, a borderless solution could merely solve such complex issues. Transdisciplinarity is a domain, that researchers work jointly, using a shared conceptual framework, drawing together disciplinary-specific theories, concepts, and approaches to address common problems. Lack of confidence, lack of expertise, complexities of healthcare, the confusing nature of healthcare environments, and lack of organization and standardization are the obstacles of successful scientific communication. Consequently, this book provides an overview of the essential elements of transdisciplinary studies and integrated science. The unique aspect of this book -privileging it from other books- is covering all aspects of science as harmonies of a single symphony.
