Not long after the gospel of Matthew opens, and just as it seems reasonable for Jesus to begin His public ministry, He is whisked away by the Spirit into the desert "to be tempted by the devil" - three times. Immediately, the schemes of Satan are fully revealed. The defeated one suggested that Jesus' talk could turn stones into bread. Satan proposed that Jesus' walk could be impressive and significant if He were to throw Himself off the pinnacle of the temple. Finally, the devil tried to entice Jesus with the thought of His wardrobe being arrayed with the power of all the kingdoms. Satan tempted Jesus by appealing to the desire to be relevant, significant, and powerful. Aren't these the same appealing areas of vulnerability for us as educators? How natural to want to be relevant while talking to our students, impressive and significant in our profession, and powerful in our classroom kingdoms! Nothing would please the tempter more than to derail our earthly walk, talk, and wardrobe. He doesn't want us to "walk the talk or dress the part" of being a follower of Christ and a light in a dark and needy world. Like Jesus, we don't need to outsmart or outmuscle Satan. We need to simply "out-truth" him with the powerful words of God. Sheryl Vasso has spent the last several years directing the Masters of Education Program at Philadelphia Biblical University and traveling the world as a professor of teachers enrolled in graduate studies. Cammy Tidwell, on the other hand, took an early "retirement" from the teaching profession to spend time at home with her children. Through the common passion of studying and teaching God's Word, Sheryl and Cammy have united, first as friends, and then as partners in their speaking and writing ministry, Words of Worth, Inc. (www.wordsofworth.com). Both Sheryl and Cammy reside in Newtown, PA.

The Oxford Handbook Of Language And Race written by H. Samy Alim and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-02 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Over the past two decades, the fields of linguistic anthropology and sociolinguistics have complicated traditional understandings of the relationship between language and identity. But while research traditions that explore the linguistic complexities of gender and sexuality have long been established, the study of race as a linguistic issue has only emerged recently. The Oxford Handbook of Language and Race positions issues of race as central to language-based scholarship. In twenty-one chapters divided into four sections-Foundations and Formations; Coloniality and Migration; Embodiment and Intersectionality; and Racism and Representations-authors at the forefront of this rapidly expanding field present state-of-the-art research and establish future directions of research. Covering a range of sites from around the world, the handbook offers theoretical, reflexive takes on language and race, the larger histories and systems that influence these concepts, the bodies that enact and experience them, and the expressions and outcomes that emerge as a result. As the study of language and race continues to take on a growing importance across anthropology, communication studies, cultural studies, education, linguistics, literature, psychology, ethnic studies, sociology, and the academy as a whole, this volume represents a timely, much-needed effort to focus these fields on both the central role that language plays in racialization and on the enduring relevance of race and racism.

This book is a major step towards a huge vision that “MIND SEED LIFE SOLUTIONS” envisages, i.e., to ‘CHANGE’ people’s lives across the globe. Welcome to ‘The 4 Q’s’. What’s a self-help book? We pick it up from a book shop or by online shopping…..Read it… Shut it… Forget it. This is what it is defined as: “any book written with the explicit intention of helping its readers CHANGE or improve some aspect of their personal Or professional lives”. It is the word “CHANGE” that one never seriously takes account of. We all want to get motivated but Do not want to embrace CHANGE. Do want to be accountable for their thought process. We read many “SELF HELP” books but do we really bring that “SELF WORTH” in us. ‘MOTIVATION IS TEMPORARY’. By this book, I wish to impart and share my knowledge and experience to you all lovely friends the “CHANGE” I underwent. I promise you that if you religiously apply these contents into your life, you will definitely take one step that you were always reluctant to make. “We do not value that one baby step which needs to make it possible for us to take initiative towards bigger steps.” The Fact: There’s a high possibility that you’ll seldom practice what I am sharing here. I am sure you are going to just read this book, like it but do nothing about it…because you are busy circling around the life situations with your routine 9 to 5’s and find no time for your PERSONAL GROWTH. Do not just read the texts and become a verbal diarrhea of words by just promising to do it.... practice it. “Thinking about something and doing nothing about that something is moronic because that something could be a great thing for you”. Let’s say, even if you do not reach success, the attitude will make a difference. And once the attitude gets into your DNA, you become a different person. A kind of versatile person who can handle any adverse situation. Let’s take an instance. A donkey takes up a usual load given by his master through the normal route to the market for sale. Now the donkey is tuned to maintain the same speed and pace no matter whatever the situation is...now when the master puts some extra load on to the donkey the next day, do you think the donkey will increase his pace? No, he will carry the extra burden and go at the same pace as he used to before and will give up. He won’t otherwise think...Let me increase my speed or deploy some alternatives so that I can relieve this heavy load. This is what we face in life. We get so much engrossed in our life routines that we hardly have any time for our own self-development to make a difference in life. And when we reach the latter stage of our life, we hardly have any time left in us to enjoy or make a difference.
