Most miniature wargames take the form of simulating a single battle with the opponents either winning or losing and that's that until the next game. Such games can be a fun test of tactical skill but it can be even more rewarding if they form part of a wider campaign. In a campaign, the players commanding the forces have to make the decisions at the strategic level that determine the context of any battles that occur. The outcome of these battles will, in turn, have strategic consequences for the ongoing campaign. Although campaigns can be very rewarding, many wargamers are deterred by the need to produce maps and devise mechanisms for strategic movement, Intelligence, logistics, recruiting reinforcements, keeping track of casualties etc. Henry Hyde's excellent book greatly eases this task with masses of sound advice, concrete suggestions and even a full set of campaign rules useful for any period up to AD 1900. Whatever historical or fantasy setting you prefer, Henry shows that even simple campaigns can add extra fun to your gaming.

Over two years in design, play testing, and editing, Paul Wright's "Little Campaigns" (LC) is the perfect sequel to his original "Funny Little Wars" (FLW). "Little Campaigns" is a collection of rules for putting miniatures battles into a campaign context. Many of these rules may be used in games without an Umpire by as few as two players, and indeed, with different rules for other scales/subjects. More complex rules benefiting from an Umpire allow for hidden movement and surprise. Extensive rules for Logistics, Isolation, Troop Trains, Armoured Trains, Amphibious Landings, Espionage/Sabotage/Assassination, Pontoon Bridging, Barrages, Fieldworks, Forts, Super Heavy Artillery, Field Telephones, Prisoners of War, and Night Fighting are only some of the rules offered to enliven your games. Besides some 40 pages of campaign game systems, Little Campaigns contains 28 more of Rule Enhancements and adjustments to the basic combat rules for FLW. There is a special chapter on how to play video battles over the Internet, the essentials of which can apply to games with smaller scale figures, too. The book also includes a chapter detailing a fictional Campaign, complete with special maps, orders, OB's, and more. Seven new Army Lists (Turkish, Chinese, Boer, etc) are provided, as well as more pages of suggestions for representing terrain, sources for figures, gaming accessories, and miniatures. New Campaign Record Sheets are provided, as are templates for artillery fire on trains, and plotting sheets for aerial reconnaissance, etc. "Little Campaigns" is lavishly illustrated with color photos, period art work, maps, and more. An optional LC Graphic Supplement (maps, map counters, mock "Illustrated London New" issue covering the Campaign described in the text, etc) is also described in the book which can be ordered directly from the Publisher. There are rules on so many aspects of campaigns that it would be a bold band of players who would use them all at once, but any of these may be adopted and applied to other games not related to FLW at all and other periods as well. Even as a resource book, LC will be one taken down from the shelf for inspiration and reference for years to come!

Tomorrow you will bring the battle to the foe. Tonight you walk among the troops you'll lead. The mercenaries are veterans and sleep while they can, but the peasants levied from your lands seek courage in tales of your previous victories. In the cover of darkness, you can listen rather than lead. Remember when you were like them? Back when you first entered the dungeon, you wielded a sword to fight for gold, glory, and the favor of the gods. Winning these earned you a throne. Now you wield an army, and fight for the right to rule the domains at war. Domains at War: Campaigns (D@W) is a supplement for Autarch's best-selling Adventure Conqueror King System (ACKS). Using the rules herein, your fantasy RPG characters can raise armies, campaign against enemy forces, and conquer domains. It includes a comprehensive campaign toolkit for use in ongoing games, fully compatible with ACKS's rules for mercenaries, strongholds, magic, and rulership. D@W: Campaigns also includes a streamlined system for resolving the outcome of pitched battles between army-sized forces, ideal for resolving battles between NPC commanders, where the adventurers are bystanders or front-line participants. Domains at War: Campaigns is compatible with any fantasy RPG system that uses twenty-sided dice and shares concepts like hit points and armor class. If your players are ready to rule, then your campaign is ready for the Domains at War: Campaigns rules.

Donald Featherstone's classic wargaming book, War Games, was first published in 1962. It was largely responsible for turning a somewhat obscure hobby into a popular pastime across the world. This revised edition includes new material including a foreword by Paddy Griffith. There are five sets of classic rules in the book: -Tony Bath's Ancient Wargaming Rules -Lionel Tarr's Modern Wargaming rules. (Modern being WWII) -American Civil Wargaming Rules -Simple WWII rules -Skirmish rules for colonial warfare Each set is clearly explained. There are also three accounts of ealy wargames; a battle from the fantasy world of Hyboria, an American Civil War action and the encounter on the St James Road between the British Grenadier Guards and the German panzer grenadiers in WWII. The book is a piece of wargaming history and is published as part of the History of Wargaming Project.
