Commonly viewed as a revolutionary and propagandist Herman Gorter (1864–1927) is often overlooked despite his lasting contribution to Dutch poetry. This selection of thirty-one poems, translated by Paul Vincent, focuses on Gorter’s experimental love and nature lyrics in Poems of 1890, and the Introduction sets the poems in the context of his earlier seminal work 'Mei' (May) as well as his often neglected Socialist verse.The lyrical expansiveness, consistent use of rhyme and vivid imagery of the Dutch landscape that characterises 'Mei' evolves into more fragmentary verse in Poems of 1890, and the joyful celebratory tone of Gorter’s poetry increasingly co-exists with a sense of isolation and introspection. De Stilte is een tweedelige surrealistische roman waarin we in het eerste deel Saul Bach leren kennen, die op een zekere dag besluit te stoppen met praten om zich te hullen in absolute stilte. Het blijkt dat hij twintig jaar lang in stilte heeft gelegen en nu niet meer kan spreken. Daar komt bij dat hij ontwaakt in een wereld waar iedereen stil is! Hij snapt er niets van en krijgt hulp van een jonge vrouw, die hem helpt om weer te leren spreken. Ze brengt hem bij een ondergrondse, verborgen beweging, waar men nog wel met elkaar praat. Bruno komt er achter wat zijn coma heeft veroorzaakt en waarom iedereen stil is geworden... Bavo Dhooge is een veelgeprezen Vlaamse auteur die thrillers, science fiction, horror-, en ook kinderboeken schrijft. Hij studeerde Grieks en Latijn aan het Sint-Lievenscollege en Film & Televisie aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Gent. Hij was werkzaam als copywriter-scenarist en als freelance redacteur en recensent, onder meer voor het bekende weekblad HUMO. Na zijn debuut in 2001 met 'Spaghetti' is hij bekend geworden als de 'S-Express' vanwege 100 titels die beginnen met de letter 'S'. In 2015 verscheen zijn Amerikaanse debuut, 'Styx', waarvan de filmrechten werden verkocht aan Eyeworks.
