Born in London in 1954, he moved to Leeds at the age of nine. On a holiday to Scarborough, he was taken on the pirate ship the Hispaniola, which was on a lake called The Mere. The crew were dressed as pirates and took the kids to a small island on the lake to dig for doubloons which were exchanged for sixpences. After this exciting holiday (and many Errol Flynn films) he dressed as a pirate at weekends, much to the astonishment of his friends. Moving to Bridlington at the age of forty-eight, he became a proper pirate wandering the streets of Whitby and Bridlington, having many exciting adventures.

Pirate Tales written by E. W. Farnsworth and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-18 with Fiction categories.

In these rollicking, madcap, often bloodthirsty pirate stories, Abe, the First Mate serving under Captain Morgan on the pirate ship Sweet Cutlass, tells his story of piracy on the high seas while sailing around the world in the waning years of the great age of sail. After Abe earns his own command of the pirate ship Night Lightning, he works in tandem with his mentor and former captain as they successfully board, loot and scuttle merchantmen of all flags. The pirates maraud and pillage at will on a route that takes in San Juan, Hatteras, the Bermudas, Madagascar, Zanzibar, the Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf, the Andaman Islands and Tierra del Fuego. They ruthlessly amass and bury a fortune in treasure, fight with other pirates, mutiny among themselves, carouse among landlubbers, deal with a treacherous sheik, free many slaves, make men walk the plank, and ship aboard beautiful, lively wenches. Between these covers are tales of singing pirates, lots of rum, a sea hag, an Amazonian pirate crew, gold and slave trafficking ships, a talking parrot, sea monsters and violent storms that open the gates to Davy Jones's Locker. E. W. Farnsworth rewrites legacy pirate lore by assuming pirates are cunning, often worldly wise and cultured in their own piratical ways. They are as brilliant and daring in battle as today's US Navy SEALs are--and as invincible.

When Daniel Collins and the crew of the Betsey set sail for Cuba in 1824, they have no idea of the horrors that lie ahead. This is just one of the stories in a collection of five true tales about pirates and shipwrecks that introduces readers to the perils of the high seas. Pirates and Shipwrecks: True Stories is the first book in the Mystery & Mayhem series for 9–12 year olds, which features true tales that whet kids’ appetites for history by engaging them in genres with proven track records—mystery and adventure. History is made of near misses, unexplained disappearances, unsolved mysteries, and bizarre events that are almost too weird to be true—almost! The Mystery & Mayhem series delves into the past to provide kids with a jumping-off point into a lifelong habit of appreciating history. Each of the true tales in Pirates and Shipwrecks, including stories about pirate Barbarossa and adventurer John Franklin, is paired with interesting facts about the setting, industry, and time period. A glossary and index provide the opportunity to use essential academic tools. These nonfiction narratives use clear, concise language with compelling plots, drawing in both avid and reluctant readers.

The Isle Of Pirate S Doom written by Robert E. Howard and has been published by Read Books Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-12 with Fiction categories.

This early work by Robert E. Howard was originally published in the 20th century and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'The Isle of Pirate's Doom' is a story about Helen Tavrel, a female pirate of the Caribbean. Robert Ervin Howard was born in Peaster, Texas in 1906. During his youth, his family moved between a variety of Texan boomtowns, and Howard – a bookish and somewhat introverted child – was steeped in the violent myths and legends of the Old South. At fifteen Howard began to read the pulp magazines of the day, and to write more seriously. The December 1922 issue of his high school newspaper featured two of his stories, 'Golden Hope Christmas' and 'West is West'. In 1924 he sold his first piece – a short caveman tale titled 'Spear and Fang' – for $16 to the not-yet-famous Weird Tales magazine. Howard's most famous character, Conan the Cimmerian, was a barbarian-turned-King during the Hyborian Age, a mythical period of some 12,000 years ago. Conan featured in seventeen Weird Tales stories between 1933 and 1936 which is why Howard is now regarded as having spawned the 'sword and sorcery' genre. The Conan stories have since been adapted many times, most famously in the series of films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
