Together, these 100 bottles comprise a collection of whiskeys so exclusive that no one could ever assemble them all under one roof. A must-have for the library of any true whiskey connoisseur, The Impossible Collection of Whiskey is a carefully crafted homage to a liquor long revered as the “water of life.”

Whiskey Distilled written by Heather Greene and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-16 with Cooking categories.

In the populist tradition of Andrea Immer, New York City’s first female whiskey sommelier translates today’s hottest spirit for a new generation of imbibers Whiskey is in the midst of a huge renaissance. Ten years ago, the United States housed sixty-nine craft distillers; today, there are more than four hundred. Exports of Scotch whisky grew 12 percent just last year. Sales are skyrocketing, and specialty bars are popping up around the country, from New York City to Chicago to Houston. Yet whiskey drinkers—especially novices—are more confused than ever. Over the past decade, whiskey expert Heather Greene has been bombarded with thousands of questions, including: Can I have ice in my whiskey? Why is it sometimes spelled "whisky"? What makes bourbon different? As New York City’s first female whiskey sommelier, Greene introduces audiences to the spirit’s charms and challenges the boys' club sensibilities that have made whiskey seem inaccessible, with surprising new research that shows the crucial importance of "nosing" whiskey. Through lively tastings, speaking engagements, and classes such as the popular "Whiskey as an Aphrodisiac," Greene has been demystifying whiskey the way Andrea Immer did wine a decade ago. In this lively and authoritative guide, Greene uses bright visuals, an easy-to-read format, and the familiar vocabulary of wine to teach readers about whiskey and encourage them to make their own evaluations. Peppered with wry anecdotes drawn from her unusual life—and including recipes for delicious cocktails by some of today’s most celebrated mixologists—Whiskey Distilled will be enthusiastically greeted by the whiskey curious as well as by journeymen whiskey drinkers thirsty to learn more about their beloved tipple.

How We Put An E In Whiskey written by Roy Court and has been published by Austin Macauley Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-31 with Cooking categories.

Have you ever wondered how whiskey came about? It has roots that go a long way into the past, and in this book, the author tells us how the various discoveries came together – first of all to obtain alcohol from wine, but in Ireland, where grapes do not grow, from ale. The monks who first carried out this experiment wanted alcohol for medical purposes because the monks in those days were also the physicians. Inevitably, the alcohol was tasted, and though at that time it must have been harsh in flavour, the feeling of well-being and warmth it created could not be missed. At first, it was flavoured with spices, notably saffron, which gave it a beautiful yellow/orange colour. Later it was discovered that storage in an oak cask not only produced the amber colour of whiskey today but did wonderful things to the taste. From then onwards, all additions other than water to adjust the alcoholic strength and some caramel to standardise colouring were prohibited by law. Whiskey distilleries were recognised by their chimneys indicating their voracious use of fossil fuels, but today distilleries are being converted to be 100% fossil-fuel-free and still produce the same beautiful amber liquid.
