Mixed Effects Models And Extensions In Ecology With R written by Alain Zuur and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-03-05 with Science categories.
Building on the successful Analysing Ecological Data (2007) by Zuur, Ieno and Smith, the authors now provide an expanded introduction to using regression and its extensions in analysing ecological data. As with the earlier book, real data sets from postgraduate ecological studies or research projects are used throughout. The first part of the book is a largely non-mathematical introduction to linear mixed effects modelling, GLM and GAM, zero inflated models, GEE, GLMM and GAMM. The second part provides ten case studies that range from koalas to deep sea research. These chapters provide an invaluable insight into analysing complex ecological datasets, including comparisons of different approaches to the same problem. By matching ecological questions and data structure to a case study, these chapters provide an excellent starting point to analysing your own data. Data and R code from all chapters are available from www.highstat.com.

Macroeconomics In Emerging Markets written by Peter J. Montiel and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-04-10 with Business & Economics categories.
This book is a rigorous, yet nonmathematical analysis of key macroeconomic issues faced by emerging economies. The first part develops an analytical framework that can be used as a workhorse model to study short-run macroeconomic issues of stabilization and adjustment in such economies, comparable to the IS-LM framework widely used in intermediate-level macroeconomics textbooks for industrial countries. The rest of the book considers fiscal issues, financial sector issues, and issues concerning exchange rate regimes and policies. In the fiscal area, the focus is on the formulation of intertemporal policies, i.e. fiscal sustainability, seigniorage, and the roles of central bank independence and privatization of public enterprises in achieving fiscal credibility. The analysis of the financial sector examines its role in promoting welfare and growth. Finally, the book explores recent developments in the theory of appropriate exchange rate regimes and management, and provides an overview of currency crises.

Monetary Policy Rules written by John B. Taylor and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-12-01 with Business & Economics categories.
This timely volume presents the latest thinking on the monetary policy rules and seeks to determine just what types of rules and policy guidelines function best. A unique cooperative research effort that allowed contributors to evaluate different policy rules using their own specific approaches, this collection presents their striking findings on the potential response of interest rates to an array of variables, including alterations in the rates of inflation, unemployment, and exchange. Monetary Policy Rules illustrates that simple policy rules are more robust and more efficient than complex rules with multiple variables. A state-of-the-art appraisal of the fundamental issues facing the Federal Reserve Board and other central banks, Monetary Policy Rules is essential reading for economic analysts and policymakers alike.

Arguing that Canada's unemployment crisis could have been avoided with better government policies, particularly less restrictive monetary control, contributors examine the effect of the Bank of Canada's zero-inflation policy and the role of unemployment insurance on the crisis of recent years. Analysis also includes discussion of unemployment in France, Germany, and Japan. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Compared with other research fields, both microbiome and metabolomics data are complicated and have some unique characteristics, respectively. Thus, choosing an appropriate statistical test or method is a very important step in the analysis of microbiome and metabolomics data. However, this is still a difficult task for those biomedical researchers without a statistical background and for those biostatisticians who do not have research experiences in these fields. Graduate students studying microbiome and metabolomics; statisticians, working on microbiome and metabolomics projects, either for their own research, or for their collaborative research for experimental design, grant application, and data analysis; and researchers who investigate biomedical and biochemical projects with the microbiome, metabolome, and multi-omics data analysis will benefit from reading this work.

Functional Form And Heterogeneity In Models For Count Data written by William Greene and has been published by Now Publishers Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Business & Economics categories.
This study presents several extensions of the most familiar models for count data, the Poisson and negative binomial models. We develop an encompassing model for two well-known variants of the negative binomial model (the NB1 and NB2 forms). We then analyze some alternative approaches to the standard log gamma model for introducing heterogeneity into the loglinear conditional means for these models. The lognormal model provides a versatile alternative specification that is more flexible (and more natural) than the log gamma form, and provides a platform for several "two part" extensions, including zero inflation, hurdle, and sample selection models. (We briefly present some alternative approaches to modeling heterogeneity.) We also resolve some features in Hausman, Hall and Griliches (1984, Economic models for count data with an application to the patents-R & D relationship, Econometrica 52, 909-938) widely used panel data treatments for the Poisson and negative binomial models that appear to conflict with more familiar models of fixed and random effects. Finally, we consider a bivariate Poisson model that is also based on the lognormal heterogeneity model. Two recent applications have used this model. We suggest that the correlation estimated in their model frameworks is an ambiguous measure of the correlation of the variables of interest, and may substantially overstate it. We conclude with a detailed application of the proposed methods using the data employed in one of the two aforementioned bivariate Poisson studies
