FUZZY LOGIC APPLICATIONS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICSTICS The prime objective of developing this book is to provide meticulous details about the basic and advanced concepts of fuzzy logic and its all-around applications to different fields of mathematics and engineering. The basic steps of fuzzy inference systems starting from the core foundation of the fuzzy concepts are presented in this book. The fuzzy theory is a mathematical concept and, at the same time, it is applied to many versatile engineering fields and research domains related to computer science. The fuzzy system offers some knowledge about uncertainty and is also related to the theory of probability. A fuzzy logic-based model acts as the classifier for many different types of data belonging to several classes. Covered in this book are topics such as the fundamental concepts of mathematics, fuzzy logic concepts, probability and possibility theories, and evolutionary computing to some extent. The combined fields of neural network and fuzzy domain (known as the neuro-fuzzy system) are explained and elaborated. Each chapter has been produced in a very lucid manner, with grading from simple to complex to accommodate the anticipated different audiences. The application-oriented approach is the unique feature of this book. Audience This book will be read and used by a broad audience including applied mathematicians, computer scientists, and industry engineers.

In today’s real-world applications, there is an increasing demand of integrating new information and knowledge on-demand into model building processes to account for changing system dynamics, new operating conditions, varying human behaviors or environmental influences. Evolving fuzzy systems (EFS) are a powerful tool to cope with this requirement, as they are able to automatically adapt parameters, expand their structure and extend their memory on-the-fly, allowing on-line/real-time modeling. This book comprises several evolving fuzzy systems approaches which have emerged during the last decade and highlights the most important incremental learning methods used. The second part is dedicated to advanced concepts for increasing performance, robustness, process-safety and reliability, for enhancing user-friendliness and enlarging the field of applicability of EFS and for improving the interpretability and understandability of the evolved models. The third part underlines the usefulness and necessity of evolving fuzzy systems in several online real-world application scenarios, provides an outline of potential future applications and raises open problems and new challenges for the next generation evolving systems, including human-inspired evolving machines. The book includes basic principles, concepts, algorithms and theoretic results underlined by illustrations. It is dedicated to researchers from the field of fuzzy systems, machine learning, data mining and system identification as well as engineers and technicians who apply data-driven modeling techniques in real-world systems.

Advanced Concepts In Fuzzy Logic And Systems With Membership Uncertainty written by Janusz T. Starczewski and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book generalizes fuzzy logic systems for different types of uncertainty, including - semantic ambiguity resulting from limited perception or lack of knowledge about exact membership functions - lack of attributes or granularity arising from discretization of real data - imprecise description of membership functions - vagueness perceived as fuzzification of conditional attributes. Consequently, the membership uncertainty can be modeled by combining methods of conventional and type-2 fuzzy logic, rough set theory and possibility theory. In particular, this book provides a number of formulae for implementing the operation extended on fuzzy-valued fuzzy sets and presents some basic structures of generalized uncertain fuzzy logic systems, as well as introduces several of methods to generate fuzzy membership uncertainty. It is desirable as a reference book for under-graduates in higher education, master and doctor graduates in the courses of computer science, computational intelligence, or fuzzy control and classification, and is especially dedicated to researchers and practitioners in industry.

Fuzzy Set Theory And Its Applications written by Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-09 with Business & Economics categories.

Since its inception 20 years ago the theory of fuzzy sets has advanced in a variety of ways and in many disciplines. Applications of this theory can be found in artificial intelligence, computer science, control engineering, decision theory, expert systems, logic, management science, operations research, pattern recognition, robotics and others. Theoretical advances, too, have been made in many directions, and a gap has arisen between advanced theoretical topics and applications, which often use the theory at a rather elementary level. The primary goal of this book is to close this gap - to provide a textbook for courses in fuzzy set theory and a book that can be used as an introduction. This revised book updates the research agenda, with the chapters of possibility theory, fuzzy logic and approximate reasoning, expert systems and control, decision making and fuzzy set models in operations research being restructured and rewritten. Exercises have been added to almost all chapters and a teacher's manual is available upon request.

The emergence of fuzzy logic and its applications has dramatically changed the face of industrial control engineering. Over the last two decades, fuzzy logic has allowed control engineers to meet and overcome the challenges of developing effective controllers for increasingly complex systems with poorly defined dynamics. Today's engineers need a working knowledge of the principles and techniques of fuzzy logic-Intelligent Control provides it. The author first introduces the traditional control techniques and contrasts them with intelligent control. He then presents several methods of representing and processing knowledge and introduces fuzzy logic as one such method. He highlights the advantages of fuzzy logic over other techniques, indicates its limitations, and describes in detail a hierarchical control structure appropriate for use in intelligent control systems. He introduces a variety of applications, most in the areas of robotics and mechatronics but with others including air conditioning and process/production control. One appendix provides discussion of some advanced analytical concepts of fuzzy logic, another describes a commercially available software system for developing fuzzy logic application. Intelligent Control is filled with worked examples, exercises, problems, and references. No prior knowledge of the subject nor advanced mathematics are needed to comprehend much of the book, making it well-suited as a senior undergraduate or first-year graduate text and a convenient reference tool for practicing professionals.

Fuzzy rule systems have found a wide range of applications in many fields of science and technology. Traditionally, fuzzy rules are generated from human expert knowledge or human heuristics for relatively simple systems. In the last few years, data-driven fuzzy rule generation has been very active. Compared to heuristic fuzzy rules, fuzzy rules generated from data are able to extract more profound knowledge for more complex systems. This book presents a number of approaches to the generation of fuzzy rules from data, ranging from the direct fuzzy inference based to neural net works and evolutionary algorithms based fuzzy rule generation. Besides the approximation accuracy, special attention has been paid to the interpretabil ity of the extracted fuzzy rules. In other words, the fuzzy rules generated from data are supposed to be as comprehensible to human beings as those generated from human heuristics. To this end, many aspects of interpretabil ity of fuzzy systems have been discussed, which must be taken into account in the data-driven fuzzy rule generation. In this way, fuzzy rules generated from data are intelligible to human users and therefore, knowledge about unknown systems can be extracted.
