First-timeTranslation in English - - - The relationship between Christians and Jews has often been very tense, with misunderstandings of Paul's teachings contributing to the problem. Jacques Ellul's careful exegesis of Romans 9-11 demonstrates how God has not rejected Israel. The title is taken from the verse, "Is there some injustice in God?" The answer is a clear "no." God's election simply expanded outward beyond Israel to reach all peoples of the earth. In the end, there will be a reconciliation of Jews and Christians within God's plan of salvation. Written in 1991, three years before Ellul died, An Unjust God? brings a new understanding to a section of Scripture known for its conventional and limited interpretations. One significant feature of the book is Ellul's personal experience of the suffering of Jews under the Nazi regime; and this has direct bearing for the way he links the sufferings of Israel with the sufferings of Jesus. Ellul is then bold enough to say that a major reason why the Jewish people have not accepted Jesus as Messiah is because the Christian Church has not done well to emulate the Jewish Savior of the world.

Gammon is among the best preachers of the word of God practically applied that you will ever read. In this volume are collected his only surviving three works which, in their varied subject matter, draw the Christian closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. His first sermon is, "God’s Just Desertion of the Unjust," (from Revelation 22:11), showing that it is a comfort to the godly to be mercifully confirmed in holiness, and it is a terror to the wicked to be justly suffered to go on in his wickedness. His second sermon is, "The Praise of a Godly Woman," (from Proverbs 31:30) where he shows that "praise" is a debt that must be paid to those who have the true, "fear of the Lord." The fear of the Lord is the truest nobility, the noblest grace, that can ennoble and extol a man or a woman. Such should be praised for it by man, and by God. His third sermon is, "God’s Smiting to Amendment or to Revengement," (from Isaiah 1:5), where he shows what reasons God uses for professing believers when he strikes them justly for their sin. This is a serious call to true repentance, and those who do not repent spit in the face of God, and revel in self-love. With this, God will be severe. God is great in mercies when he strikes us to this end: that we should sin no more. In each of these three sermons, Gammon's exposition is by far the best treatment on all three subjects. These are works to read and pray through, looking for God to be merciful to further transform the Christian into the image of Jesus Christ. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

My book, God’s Justice in an Unjust World, explores the ways in which our culture has rejected God’s mandates for sin-free living. From classroom to jobsite, each chapter examines common beliefs and practices to reveal the unjust nature of today’s lifestyles. But lest we assume that God has allowed us to distort His Word as given on a variety of challenges in modern life, Scripture reminds us of His promises and the prophecy that all will face justice—God’s justice—in the time to come. In the meantime, there are several steps we can take to keep in tune with God’s mandates for our lives and reflecting his love for others in daily living.

Suffering and evil affect us all, both at a general level, as we look at a world filled with injustice, natural disasters and poverty, and at a personal level, as we experience grief, pain and unfairness. And how we think about and process the reality of pain is at the heart of why many people reject God. Dr. Amy Orr-Ewing is no stranger to pain and gives a heartfelt yet academically rigorous examination of how different belief systems deal with the problem of pain. She explains the unique answer that is found in Christ and how he can give us hope in the reality of suffering. This empathetic, easy-to-read and powerful evangelistic book is good for both unbelievers and believers alike. It will help those hoping to answer one of life’s biggest questions as well as those who are either suffering personally or comforting others.

If you were asked "if you died today, would you go to heaven?" what would you say? Ever have any of these questions? -Does God love me? -Is there a purpose for my life? -Why is there so much pain and suffering in the world today? -Why wouldn't I go to heaven? -What happens if I don't go to heaven? This book provides the truth from God's word to help you answer these questions. You can know: -That God made you to rule over His creation, carry out His affairs on earth, and live in His presence forever for His glory; how sin brought death and destruction instead. -God loves you and has a purpose for your life. -You have an enemy who seeks your eternal destruction. -Your sin separates you from God. -The one way to God. -The assurance of salvation and life in heaven for eternity. The Just For The Unjust: Jesus Christ: The Bridge From Death To Life explains to you in plain language that because of sin you are born spiritually dead into Satan's kingdom of darkness, separated from God, destined for hell, a place of intense agony, guilt, sorrow, and suffering that never end. When you read this book, you will know God's rich mercy, and great love for you. God gave His only Son Jesus Christ, the Just, to die for you, the unjust; to be the payment for sin you cannot pay yourself. Jesus Christ is the Bridge to bring you from death into the presence of God, where there is joy and the pleasures of living with Him forever. Today is the day of your salvation!

The parable of the unjust steward in Luke 16:1-13 is a unity which teaches faithful stewardship of material possession against an eschatological backdrop. This interpretation is confirmed by examination of the pericope itself and progressively wider levels of context within Luke's Gospel. Chapter one provides a history of recent interpretations of the parable (nineteenth and twentieth centuries) as background for the ensuing study. Detailed exegesis of Luke 16:1-13 itself is found in chapter two. The investigation is broadened in chapter three to include the immediate and broader literary contexts (Luke 15-16 and 9:51-19:44, respectively). Chapter four examines the theological context, in particular the themes of riches and poverty and the kingdom of God. Chapter five summarizes the major conclusions of the book. The book is a thorough summary of the literature on the parable, the central section, and the themes of riches and poverty and eschatology in the third Gospel.
