Determination Of Avocado Fruit Ripening Stage Using An Electronic Nose With Fuzzy Logic Algorithm written by Julie-Ann Parañal and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-20 with categories.

Academic Paper from the year 2019 in the subject Electrotechnology, language: English, abstract: This paper examines and measures the concentration of the metal oxide gas sensors in determining the ripeness using the ethylene gas in fruits. The preliminary performance of the electronic nose has been demonstrated at the ripening stage of the avocado fruit and is compared to the separation machine. Confusion matrix was used to show the accuracy of the system in detecting ripening stage. This study used the fuzzy logic algorithm to classify and achieve an accuracy rate of 82,5 percent of classifying unripe, ripe, and overripe of the fruits. Ethylene is a gaseous plant hormone that naturally occurs in fruits and helps speed up the ripening process. Persea Americana, or Avocado, is a climacteric fruit that does not produce large amounts of ethylene while still attached to the tree. Therefore, it does not ripen until harvested, and thus, its ripeness cannot be determined by the naked eye. Since fruit quality is judged by consumers primarily from their perception of the acceptability of fruits based on characteristics including visual appeal (lack of blemishes, color, size, and texture), relying on such methods is not applicable for Avocado in general. The use of an electronic nose - an intelligent sensing device that can sense aroma more effectively than the human sense of smell - would prove to be useful. It also possesses a non-destructive property, therefore resulting into it being selected to be the ideal digital, electronic device for identifying, characterizing, and grading fruits ripeness. The main objective of this study is to measure ethylene and other metal oxide gases present in determining the ripeness stage of persea americana samples through electronic nose using fuzzy based classification algorithms and to verify the accuracy of results by comparing it to data from human expert graders of fruits. This study categorizes the metal oxide gas present in f

Two bait-based techniques, Zonatrac Male Annihilation and Ceranock Attract and Kill, were used for the control of mixed populations of the Medfly Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) and peach fruit fly Bactrocera zonata (Saunders) on apricot and mango in Egypt. Treatments were carried out in an apricot orchard in Al-Beheira and later in a mango orchard in Al-Sharqiyah. Both techniques have proved to be successful in substantially reducing infestation on mango, where fruit damage assessment revealed infestation rates at 4.92% and 3.28% in two treatment plots, as opposed to 27.87% in an untreated control plot. The apricot trial witnessed a relatively high infestation rate in both treatment plots, as well as the control plot, due to an unexpectedly overwhelming Medfly population surpassing the application rate capacity. Apricot fruit damage assessment resulted in 51.92% and 42.72% infestation rates in the two treatment plots, and 44.55% infestation rate in the pesticide-treated control plot.

“An engaging and fascinating narrative of the entrepreneurs and mercenaries who ‘ravished’ Central America between 1880 and 1930.” —The Americas Ambitious entrepreneurs, isthmian politicians, and mercenaries who dramatically altered Central America’s political culture, economies, and even its traditional social values populate this lively story of a generation of North and Central Americans and their roles in the transformation of Central America from the late nineteenth century until the onset of the Depression. The Banana Men is a study of modernization, its benefits, and its often frightful costs. The colorful characters in this study are fascinating, if not always admirable. Sam “the Banana Man” Zemurray, a Bessarabian Jewish immigrant, made a fortune in Honduran bananas after he got into the business of “revolutin,” and his exploits are now legendary. His hired mercenary Lee Christmas, a bellicose Mississippian, made a reputation in Honduras as a man who could use a weapon. The supporting cast includes Minor Keith, a railroad builder and banana baron; Manuel Bonilla, the Honduran whose cause Zemurray subsidized; and Jose Santos Zelaya, who ruled Nicaragua from 1893 to 1910. The political and social turmoil of modern Central America cannot be understood without reference to the fifty-year epoch in which the United States imposed its political and economic influence on vulnerable Central American societies. The predicament of Central Americans today, as isthmian peoples know, is rooted in their past, and North Americans have had a great deal to do with the shaping of their history, for better or worse. “Recounts incredible stories within the framework of social imperialism and dependency theory.” —Latin American Research Review

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2003 in the subject Theology - Comparative Religion Studies, grade: cum laude, Concordia University Montreal (Concordia Theologica Instiute; Neffs, Penns., USA), language: English, abstract: This paper sets out to examine the presence of Jesus Christ as presented in the Holy Quran. This is presented from the perspective of a twentieth century African Christian after an objective reading of the Holy Quran and some Hadith literature. Jesus comes through as a prophet and messenger of Allah, with whom Allah has established unique relationship and about whom the last word is not yet spoken. The Quran comes through as a great defender of what it reveals as the true nature and identity of Jesus, against different and conflicting misrepresentations of Jesus by rival Christian groups. The Quran presents a Jesus in whom Allah is greatly interested. Allah identifies and prepares Mary the mother of Jesus and entrusts her to the care of Zachariah. Allah gives a gift of a son to Zachariah in their old age; this son is John and called “Yahya” in the Quran. Allah then gives a Word from Himself to Mary. This word from Allah given to Mary becomes Jesus a son born of a virgin mother. Allah himself through the ministry of Angels and nature arranges for and takes care of Mary’s confinement and post-delivery care till Allah presents her back to her people with her infant son Jesus who as an infant miraculously spoke in defense of his mother. The Quran presents a Jesus who delivers a message to the children of Israel only. A Jesus who performs miracles and a Jesus who is rescued by Allah from the threat of being crucified by the Jews Allah takes Jesus unto Himself and before the day of judgement Jesus will come to do the will of Allah. After reading all the references of Jesus in the Quran, one develops an interest in this Prophet and Messenger of Allah and asks many questions about him. However, the Quran is silent. This silence of the Quran about so much historical information about Jesus becomes very loud and problematic. The quotations from the Holy Quran in this paper are from Ali, Abdullah Yusuf: The Holy Quran: Arabic Text, Translation and Commentary, University of New York Press, 1991. The purpose of this paper is:- 1. Trace Jesus in the Holy Quran 2. Compare and contrast the Jesus in the Quran and the Bible 3. Help Christian to understand Islam Religion and being able to answer the basic system of doctrine of a Muslim. 4. Have a picture of Jesus through the eyes of a Muslim and a Christian.

The most thorough account yet available of a revolution that saw the first true agrarian reform in Central America, this book is also a penetrating analysis of the tragic destruction of that revolution. In no other Central American country was U.S. intervention so decisive and so ruinous, charges Piero Gleijeses. Yet he shows that the intervention can be blamed on no single "convenient villain." "Extensively researched and written with conviction and passion, this study analyzes the history and downfall of what seems in retrospect to have been Guatemala's best government, the short-lived regime of Jacobo Arbenz, overthrown in 1954, by a CIA-orchestrated coup."--Foreign Affairs "Piero Gleijeses offers a historical road map that may serve as a guide for future generations. . . . [Readers] will come away with an understanding of the foundation of a great historical tragedy."--Saul Landau, The Progressive "[Gleijeses's] academic rigor does not prevent him from creating an accessible, lucid, almost journalistic account of an episode whose tragic consequences still reverberate."--Paul Kantz, Commonweal

Seminar paper from the year 2007 in the subject American Studies - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,7, University of Constance (Universität Konstanz), course: Another Anthropology. Visual and textual Representations of Animals - ethical and aesthetical perspectives, language: English, abstract: God is the creator of everything. He breathed life into animals and man, and made them living souls. “The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all His creation.” (Psalm 145:9) God created man and animals according to His infinite love and wisdom. God values everything He created, including animals, and He wants only the best for them. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and He was pleased with all He made. But He wanted more. He wanted relationship and fellowship. His desire to pour out, and receive love in return remained unfulfilled. So He decided to create animals and man. God created animals before he created man, and placed them in the perfect serenity that was then earth. He has breathed the same breath of life into all living beings from the beginning of time through today.
