"The most important book to read about the AI boom" (Wired): The "gripping" (New Yorker) true story of the first time machines came for human jobs—and how the Luddite uprising explains the power, threat, and toll of big tech and AI today Named one of the best books of the year by The New Yorker, Wired, and the Financial Times • A Next Big Idea Book Club "Must-Read" The most urgent story in modern tech begins not in Silicon Valley but two hundred years ago in rural England, when workers known as the Luddites rose up rather than starve at the hands of factory owners who were using automated machines to erase their livelihoods. The Luddites organized guerrilla raids to smash those machines—on punishment of death—and won the support of Lord Byron, enraged the Prince Regent, and inspired the birth of science fiction. This all-but-forgotten class struggle brought nineteenth-century England to its knees. Today, technology imperils millions of jobs, robots are crowding factory floors, and artificial intelligence will soon pervade every aspect of our economy. How will this change the way we live? And what can we do about it? The answers lie in Blood in the Machine. Brian Merchant intertwines a lucid examination of our current age with the story of the Luddites, showing how automation changed our world—and is shaping our future.

In theory, about 95% of one animal is usable. The remaining 5% is processing losses. From that 95%, about 55% (on average) of the animal is used for edible products and the remaining 45% is inedible by-products. The world production of ABPs derived from the meat and animal production industries is approximately 60 million tons per year. It has been estimated that more than 10 million tons of products not destined for direct human consumption, derived from healthy animals, are produced in the EU every year.A lot of ABPs are commonly used in important productive sectors, such as in the pharmaceutical, feed, wool and leather industries but, notwithstanding, new technologies have widened the possible use of ABPs and derived products. Consequently a wide range of ABPs are not utilized and are destined to disposal. Further studies are required to hone accuracy and to find and define the appropriate application for the countless substances present in the animal reproductive organs.

This book brings a new and realistic view about the Theory of Alien Gods, showing its links with an unknown form of energy, whose existence has been experimentally confirmed by the author. It is the first time in history that energy base features of extraterrestrial technology have been exposed to the public with clarity and simplicity, as well as showing what their use can mean for humanity. The chronicles approach the origins of matter, Earth, water, man, gods, and contradict some scientific and religious paradigms. The Sumerian, Biblical and human versions of the creation of man are compared, and the amazing conclusions are supported by scientific experiments. Intelligent hybrid beings are shown to be products of alien genetic manipulation. We have DNA that emits and receives subtle radiation, and can be teleported to produce human-like beings. We have a fantastic homeostasis that needs to be revitalized in order to live longer with a better quality of life. One of the topics teaches the reader to convert part of his soul into visible radiation. One of the topics teaches the reader to convert part of his soul into visible radiation. The About Intelligent Life Series is not an exercise in futurology, but the result of 10 years of research on real phenomena, which bring the certainty that in order to evolve it is necessary to rewrite the history of our planet in an intelligible way, without casuistry or religious mysticism.

The Origins Of Reasonable Doubt written by James Q. Whitman and has been published by Yale University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-01-01 with Law categories.

To be convicted of a crime in the United States, a person must be proven guilty “beyond a reasonable doubt.” But what is reasonable doubt? Even sophisticated legal experts find this fundamental doctrine difficult to explain. In this accessible book, James Q. Whitman digs deep into the history of the law and discovers that we have lost sight of the original purpose of “reasonable doubt.” It was not originally a legal rule at all, he shows, but a theological one. The rule as we understand it today is intended to protect the accused. But Whitman traces its history back through centuries of Christian theology and common-law history to reveal that the original concern was to protect the souls of jurors. In Christian tradition, a person who experienced doubt yet convicted an innocent defendant was guilty of a mortal sin. Jurors fearful for their own souls were reassured that they were safe, as long as their doubts were not “reasonable.” Today, the old rule of reasonable doubt survives, but it has been turned to different purposes. The result is confusion for jurors, and a serious moral challenge for our system of justice.
