Hi fellow eater,Did you know that 98-99% of people who lose weight on a weight loss program, gain it back and more within the first year? If you are anything like I've been (yo-yo dieting most of my life), maybe you too have wondered why it is so challenging to lose weight and keep it off. Perhaps you too find it helpful to understand why you do what you do. Good news, by being curious I discovered there are answers to our questions. I discovered so many limiting beliefs kept me stuck. In this story, I will share my own previous limiting beliefs with you, so you can understand you are not alone. By breaking free from diet culture I've been able to overcome some major limiting beliefs leading to much more freedom and happiness in my life. In asking questions in recent years, here's one of the biggest takeaways I have had - Our brain is like a supercomputer. The subconscious brain is the hard drive. All our memories are stored in our subconscious and tend to "drive the bus", if we aren't intentional. Here's the reason this interests me so much, I lived most of my life in a stress response. I reacted to what came my way in the way I believed was appropriate at that point. (I didn't know any other way than this, life happens to you and you make the best of it.)The reality is this, we can see life one of two ways. Either life is happening happening to you or life is happening for you.By buying this book you can have an insight into what life looked like before and after I let my weight define my happiness. I hope you find it helpful in overcoming your own limiting beliefs so you too can be free.If you do find this book helpful, please leave a review so even more people can benefit from my story. Thank you for your interest and support. I appreciate you and wish you all the very best. Love,Jen

AS SEEN ON CBS MORNINGS, THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE CUT, AND MORE SELF MAGAZINE’S #1 WELLNESS BOOK OF 2023 A NEXT BIG IDEA CLUB MUST-READ BOOK FOR APRIL 2023 A searing critique of modern wellness culture and how it stands in the way of true well-being that "will change the way you think about your health—in all the best ways.” (Casey Gueren) “It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle.” You've probably heard this phrase from any number of people in the wellness space. But as Christy Harrison reveals in her latest book, wellness culture promotes a standard of health that is often both unattainable and deeply harmful. Many people with chronic illness understandably feel dismissed or abandoned by the healthcare system and find solace in alternative medicine, as Harrison once did. Yet the wellness industry promotes practices that often cause even more damage than the conventional approaches they’re meant to replace. From the lack of pre-market safety testing on herbal and dietary supplements, to the unfounded claims made by many wellness influencers and functional-medicine providers, to the social-media algorithms driving users down rabbit holes of wellness mis- and disinformation, it can often feel like no one is looking out for us in the face of the $4.4 trillion global wellness industry. The Wellness Trap delves into the persistent, systemic problems with that industry, offering insight into its troubling pattern of cultural appropriation and its destructive views on mental health, and shedding light on how a growing distrust of conventional medicine has led ordinary people to turn their backs on science. Weaving together history, memoir, reporting, and practical advice, Harrison illuminates the harms of wellness culture while re-imagining our society’s relationship with well-being.

In this science-based book, registered dietitian Abby Langer tackles head-on the negative effects of diet culture and offers advice to help you enjoy food and lose weight without guilt or shame. There are so many diets out there, but what if you want to eat well and lose weight without dieting, counting, or restricting? What if you want to love your body, not punish it? Registered dietitian Abby Langer is here to help. In her first-ever book, Abby takes on our obsession with being thin and the diets that are sucking the life, sometimes literally, out of us. For the past twenty years, she has worked with clients from all walks of life to free them from restrictive diets and help them heal their relationship with food. Because all food is good for us—yes, even carbs and fats. All diets are bad. Diets are like Band-Aids for what’s really bothering us: Although we might lose weight, they prey on our insecurities, rob us of time and money, and often leave us with the same negative views of food and our bodies that we’ve always had. When the weight comes back, we still haven’t solved the real issues behind our eating habits—our “why.” This book is different. Chapter by chapter, Abby helps readers uncover the “why” behind their desire to lose weight and their relationship with food, and make lasting, meaningful change to the way they see food, nutrition, themselves, and the world around them. In this book, you’ll learn how guilt and shame affect your food choices, how fullness and satisfaction aren’t the same feeling, why it’s important to quiet your “diet voice” and enjoy food, and what the best way to eat is according to science. Empowering, inclusive, smart, and a must-have, Good Food, Bad Diet will give you the tools to reject diets, repair your relationship with food, and lose weight so you can move on with your life.
