Grundannahmen und Prinzipien In der normalen Regelschule werden die individuellen Gefühle, Bedürfnisse und Interessen der Kinder unzureichend berücksichtigt (Baillet, 1999: 16). Die Schüler haben weder Einfluss auf die Mitgestaltung des Unterrichts, noch auf die Bewertungsmaßstäbe (Kock, 2006: 66). Sie lernen dass die Entscheidungsmacht immer andere haben und dass sie dies akzeptieren müssen, was jede Eigeninitiative unterdrückt. Die Schüler haben bestimmten Normen zu entsprechen, die Hauptsorge des Erziehers ist, dass diese Normen respektiert werden. (Baillet, 1999: 16) Diese Standarisierung lehnt die Pädagogik Freinets strikt ab. Sie geht davon aus, dass jedes Kind anders ist und bezeichnet es als eine der wichtigsten Aufgaben von Schulen, der Verschiedenheit von Kindern Rechnung zu tragen. Das Ziel der Schule soll sein, dass sich das Kind zum Subjekt entfaltet, also zu einer für sich selbst verantwortlichen Persönlichkeit. Dies soll dem Kind ermöglicht werden, indem der Erzieher alle kindlichen Bedürfnisse berücksichtigt. (Baillet, 1999: 17) Die Kenntnis des einzelnen Kindes und einhergehend auch die Kenntnis seiner individuellen Bedürfnisse ist nur möglich, wenn das Kind in seinem alltäglichen Verhalten und Handeln beobachtet wird. An diesen Beobachtungen sollen sich die Lehrer und Lehrerinnen orientieren, wenn sie die selbsttätige Erziehung des einzelnen Kindes, durch Bereitstellung von Unterrichtstechniken und Arbeitsmitteln, unterstützen. (Kock, 2006: 57) Daraus soll die Realisierung, der im Folgenden aufgeführten Grundsätze, resultieren.
