The latest edition of a perennial bestseller, Multistage Separation Processes, Fourth Edition provides a clear and thorough presentation of the theoretical foundation, and understanding of the development, evaluation, design, and optimization steps of these processes, from both an academic and industrial perspective. The book’s emphasis on starting with theoretical models and their role in computer simulation, followed by practical applications, sets it apart from other texts on this topic. The author also highlights the importance of relating fundamental concepts to intuitive understanding of the processes. See What’s New in the Fourth Edition: Chapter on fluid-solid operations Expanded development of theories and methods for many applications Adds numerous industry-related examples and end-of-chapter problems Case studies combined with examples Updated and enhanced figures The book includes a generous number of examples from a wide variety of applications to relate theory to actual results, and to demonstrate the performance of process under varying conditions. The chapter topics follow a logical path that starts with basics and theoretical concepts, and progresses systematically into the various separation processes. Each chapter provides the information relevant to a specific topic, and refers to appropriate chapters in the book as needed. These features combine to give you the understanding required to make the best selections of property prediction and simulation techniques and avoid the cost incurred by the use of improper simulations.

Computational Methods For Geodynamics written by Alik Ismail-Zadeh and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-22 with Science categories.
Written as both a textbook and a handy reference, this text deliberately avoids complex mathematics assuming only basic familiarity with geodynamic theory and calculus. Here, the authors have brought together the key numerical techniques for geodynamic modeling, demonstrations of how to solve problems including lithospheric deformation, mantle convection and the geodynamo. Building from a discussion of the fundamental principles of mathematical and numerical modeling, the text moves into critical examinations of each of the different techniques before concluding with a detailed analysis of specific geodynamic applications. Key differences between methods and their respective limitations are also discussed - showing readers when and how to apply a particular method in order to produce the most accurate results. This is an essential text for advanced courses on numerical and computational modeling in geodynamics and geophysics, and an invaluable resource for researchers looking to master cutting-edge techniques. Metasomatism And The Chemical Transformation Of Rock written by Daniel Harlov and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-15 with Science categories.
Fluid-aided mass transfer and subsequent mineral re-equilibration are the two defining features of metasomatism and must be present in order for metamorphism to occur. Coupled with igneous and tectonic processes, metasomatism has played a major role in the formation of the Earth’s continental and oceanic crust and lithospheric mantle as well as in their evolution and subsequent stabilization. Metasomatic processes can include ore mineralization, metasomatically induced alteration of oceanic lithosphere, mass transport in and alteration of subducted oceanic crust and overlying mantle wedge, which has subsequent implications regarding mass transport, fluid flow, and volatile storage in the lithospheric mantle overall, as well as both regional and localized crustal metamorphism. Metasomatic alteration of accessory minerals such as zircon or monazite can allow for the dating of metasomatic events as well as give additional information regarding the chemistry of the fluids responsible. Lastly present day movement of fluids in both the lithospheric mantle and deep to mid crust can be observed utilizing geophysical resources such as electrical resistivity and seismic data. Such observations help to further clarify the picture of actual metasomatic processes as inferred from basic petrographic, mineralogical, and geochemical data. The goal of this volume is to bring together a diverse group of geologists, each of whose specialities and long range experience regarding one or more aspects of metasomatism during geologic processes, should allow them to contribute to a series of review chapters, which outline the basis of our current understanding of how metasomatism influences and helps to control both the evolution and stability of the crust and lithospheric mantle.

Petrogenesis Of Metamorphic Rocks written by Kurt Bucher and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-27 with Science categories.
This new edition of the classic textbook presents a large number of diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals and groups of minerals found in metamorphic rocks. The diagrams help to determine the pressure and temperature conditions under which a given set of metamorphic rocks may have formed. Other parameters that control metamorphic mineral assemblages are also discussed and pitfalls resulting from simplifications and generalizations are highlighted. The book discusses the most common metamorphic rock types, their nomenclature, structure and graphical representation of their mineral assemblages. Part I defines basic principles of metamorphism, introduces metamorphic processes, geologic thermometry and barometry and defines metamorphic grade. Part II presents in a systematic way mineralogical changes and assemblages found in the most common types of metamorphic rocks. The computation of diagrams is based on recent advances in quantitative petrology and geochemistry. An extensive bibliography, including the key contributions and classic papers in the field, make it an invaluable source book for graduate students and professional geologists.
