Classical Thermodynamics of Non-Electrolyte Solutions covers the historical development of classical thermodynamics that concerns the properties of vapor and liquid solutions of non-electrolytes. Classical thermodynamics is a network of equations, developed through the formal logic of mathematics from a very few fundamental postulates and leading to a great variety of useful deductions. This book is composed of seven chapters and begins with discussions on the fundamentals of thermodynamics and the thermodynamic properties of fluids. The succeeding chapter presents the equations of state for the calculation of the thermodynamic behavior of constant-composition fluids, both liquid and gaseous. These topics are followed by surveys of the mixing of pure materials to form a solution under conditions of constant temperature and pressure. The discussion then shifts to general equations for calculation of partial molal properties of homogeneous binary systems. The last chapter considers the approach to equilibrium of systems within which composition changes are brought about either by mass transfer between phases or by chemical reaction within a phase, or by both.

Thermodynamics Of Fluids Measurement And Correlation written by A Anderko and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990-03-01 with categories.
This volume is a collection of papers, mostly state-of-the-art reviews, describing main topics of current research in Applied Thermodynamics. The papers deal with measurements of thermodynamic properties which are important for process design in chemical and related industries as well as for theoretical investigations of pure fluids and mixtures. Besides measuring techniques, methods are reviewed for the processing and correlation of experimental data.

There are essentially two theories of solutions that can be considered exact: the McMillan-Mayer theory and Fluctuation Solution Theory (FST). The first is mostly limited to solutes at low concentrations, while FST has no such issue. It is an exact theory that can be applied to any stable solution regardless of the number of components and their co

Introduction To Supercritical Fluids written by Richard Smith and has been published by Newnes this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-12-08 with Science categories.
This text provides an introduction to supercritical fluids with easy-to-use Excel spreadsheets suitable for both specialized-discipline (chemistry or chemical engineering student) and mixed-discipline (engineering/economic student) classes. Each chapter contains worked examples, tip boxes and end-of-the-chapter problems and projects. Part I covers web-based chemical information resources, applications and simplified theory presented in a way that allows students of all disciplines to delve into the properties of supercritical fluids and to design energy, extraction and materials formation systems for real-world processes that use supercritical water or supercritical carbon dioxide. Part II takes a practical approach and addresses the thermodynamic framework, equations of state, fluid phase equilibria, heat and mass transfer, chemical equilibria and reaction kinetics of supercritical fluids. Spreadsheets are arranged as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) functions and macros that are completely (source code) accessible for students who have interest in developing their own programs. Programming is not required to solve problems or to complete projects in the text. - Property worksheets/spreadsheets that are easy to use in learning environments - Worked examples with Excel VBA Worksheet functions allow users to design their own processes - Fluid phase equilibria and chemical equilibria worksheets allow users to change conditions, study new solutes, co-solvents, chemical systems or reactions

Phase Equilibria In Chemical Engineering written by Stanley M. Walas and has been published by Butterworth-Heinemann this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Science categories.
Phase Equilibria in Chemical Engineering is devoted to the thermodynamic basis and practical aspects of the calculation of equilibrium conditions of multiple phases that are pertinent to chemical engineering processes. Efforts have been made throughout the book to provide guidance to adequate theory and practice. The book begins with a long chapter on equations of state, since it is intimately bound up with the development of thermodynamics. Following material on basic thermodynamics and nonidealities in terms of fugacities and activities, individual chapters are devoted to equilibria primarily between pairs of phases. A few topics that do not fit into these categories and for which the state of the art is not yet developed quantitatively have been relegated to a separate chapter. The chapter on chemical equilibria is pertinent since many processes involve simultaneous chemical and phase equilibria. Also included are chapters on the evaluation of enthalpy and entropy changes of nonideal substances and mixtures, and on experimental methods. This book is intended as a reference and self-study as well as a textbook either for full courses in phase equilibria or as a supplement to related courses in the chemical engineering curriculum. Practicing engineers concerned with separation technology and process design also may find the book useful.
