In this thesis, design and development of direct torque controlled three-phase induction motor drive is presented. The induction machine is fed from a two level inverter. The control of the drive is realized using two direct torque control strategies as given below: The first strategy is based on classical method DTC wherein the control signals for the inverter power devices are obtained using the output data from two hysteresis controllers and stator flux position. The second control strategy is a predictive method PDTC based on the model of the machine wherein the inverter switching signals are obtained by predicting future values of control variables (torque and stator flux) and optimizing their errors via a predefined costfunction. Reconstruction of control variables (current and flux) for controls is assured using a four order Kalman Filter. On the other hand, a disturbance observer with an anti-overflow scheme has also been studied and incorporated in the predictive closed-loop speed control adopted for this study. The second strategy has led to an improvement in the results of the classical method, especially in reducing torque ripple and stator flux. It also showed a significant improvement in dynamic performance, especially in terms of disturbance rejection and robustness over a wide speed range. This work leads to the development of a prototype, with real-time implementation of two controls (CDC and CDCP) variants via RT-LAB platform available in the LICOME laboratory of the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi. The experimental results show good transient and steady state performance and confirm the simulation results obtained using Matlab/Simulink.

Control Of Synchronous Motors written by Jean-Paul Louis and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-07 with Science categories.
Synchronous motors are indubitably the most effective device to drive industrial production systems and robots with precision and rapidity. Their control law is thus critical for combining at the same time high productivity to reduced energy consummation. As far as possible, the control algorithms must exploit the properties of these actuators. Therefore, this work draws on well adapted models resulting from the Park’s transformation, for both the most traditional machines with sinusoidal field distribution and for machines with non-sinusoidal field distribution which are more and more used in industry. Both, conventional control strategies like vector control (either in the synchronous reference frame or in the rotor frame) and advanced control theories like direct control and predictive control are thoroughly presented. In this context, a significant place is reserved to sensorless control which is an important and critical issue in tomorrow’s motors.
