Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Medizin - Krankenhauswesen, Klinische Medizin, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Über 200 Krankenhäuser werden bis 2020 in Deutschland schließen müssen. Während sich im Jahr 2010 gerade mal jedes zehnte Krankenhaus in Insolvenzgefahr befand, wird 2020 bereits jedes sechste Krankenhaus von der Insolvenz bedroht sein. Schon heute erwirtschaftet etwa nur die Hälfte aller Krankenhäuser die Erträge, die zur Substanzerhaltung notwendig sind. Und in den nächsten Jahren wird sich diese Situation noch weiter zuspitzen. So lauten die alarmierenden Prognosen bis zum Jahr 2020, wenn sich die wirtschaftliche Situation nicht entscheidend verbessert. Zu dieser Erkenntnis kommen die Autoren des aktuellen Krankenhaus Rating Reports 2012. Für die dem Report zugrundeliegende bundesweite Gemeinschaftsstudie von RWI, HCB und Accenture wurden Jahresabschlüsse aus den Jahren 2009 und 2010 von insgesamt über 1.000 deutschen Krankenhäusern gründlich analysiert. Basierend auf diesen Daten konnten zum einen Hochrechnungen für die Jahre 2011 und 2012 durchgeführt und zum anderen Prognosen für 2020 aufgestellt werden. Demnach sind es besonders die kleinen kommunalen, die öffentlich-rechtlichen und die westdeutschen Krankenhäuser, denen schwierige Zeiten vorhergesagt werden. Während die Lage in Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen, Rheinland-Pfalz, dem Saarland und Sachsen vergleichsweise gut ist, müssen die Krankenhäuser in Hessen, Baden-Württemberg und Niedersachsen ums Überleben kämpfen. Bei der Unterteilung nach Trägern zeichnet sich ebenso eine klare Tendenz ab. Während 80 % der privaten Krankenhäuser die trägerspezifische Mindest-Marge erreichen, trifft dies nur auf 40 % der nichtprivaten zu. Weiterhin arbeiten Kliniken mit einem hohen Spezialisierungsgrad qualitativ und wirtschaftlich nachweislich besser als Krankenhäuser mit einem breiten Leistungsspektrum. Es konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass mit dem Grad der Spezialisierung auch der Erfolg eines Krankenhauses zunimmt.
