Crystal Structure Refinement written by Peter Muller and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-07-13 with Science categories.

Crystal Structure Refinement is a mixture of textbook and tutorial. As A Crystallographers Guide to SHELXL it covers advanced aspects of practical crystal structure refinement, which have not been much addressed by textbooks so far. After an introduction to SHELXL in the first chapter, a brief survey of crystal structure refinement is provided. Chapters three and higher address the various aspects of structure refinement, from the treatment of hydrogen atoms to the assignment of atom types, to disorder, to non-crystallographic symmetry and twinning. One chapter is dedicated to the refinement of macromolecular structures and two short chapters deal with structure validation (one for small molecule structures and one for macromolecules). In each of the chapters the book gives refinement examples, based on the program SHELXL, describing every problem in detail. It comes with a CD-ROM with all files necessary to reproduce the refinements.

Crystal engineering is an interdisciplinary area that cuts across the traditional subdivisions of chemistry. Fuelled by our increasingly precise understanding of the chemistry and properties of supramolecular systems, interest in the potential of the field has increased rapidly. The topics discussed in the 28 contributions in this book provide a state-of-the-art description of the field and offer new research ideas that, if pursued, will serve to strengthen the field at the interface between supramolecular chemistry and materials science.

Structural Methods In Molecular Inorganic Chemistry written by D. W. H. Rankin and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-02 with Science categories.

Determining the structure of molecules is a fundamental skill that all chemists must learn. Structural Methods in Molecular Inorganic Chemistry is designed to help readers interpret experimental data, understand the material published in modern journals of inorganic chemistry, and make decisions about what techniques will be the most useful in solving particular structural problems. Following a general introduction to the tools and concepts in structural chemistry, the following topics are covered in detail: • computational chemistry • nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy • electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy • Mössbauer spectroscopy • rotational spectra and rotational structure • vibrational spectroscopy • electronic characterization techniques • diffraction methods • mass spectrometry The final chapter presents a series of case histories, illustrating how chemists have applied a broad range of structural techniques to interpret and understand chemical systems. Throughout the textbook a strong connection is made between theoretical topics and the real world of practicing chemists. Each chapter concludes with problems and discussion questions, and a supporting website contains additional advanced material. Structural Methods in Molecular Inorganic Chemistry is an extensive update and sequel to the successful textbook Structural Methods in Inorganic Chemistry by Ebsworth, Rankin and Cradock. It is essential reading for all advanced students of chemistry, and a handy reference source for the professional chemist.

Volume 41 of Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry introduces to the field of high-temperature and high-pressure crystal chemistry, both as a guide to the dramatically improved techniques and as a summary of the voluminous crystal chemical literature on minerals at high temperature and pressure. The three parts of the book introduces crystal chemical considerations of special relevance to non-ambient crystallographic studies, reviews the temperature- and pressure-variation of structures in major mineral groups and presents experimental techniques for high-temperature and high-pressure studies of single crystals and polycrystalline samples as well as special considerations relating to diffractometry on samples at non-ambient conditions.

The Basics Of Crystallography And Diffraction written by Christopher Hammond and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Crystallography categories.

The present book provides a clear and comprehensive introduction to the topics of crystallography and diffraction for undergraduate and beginning graduate students and lecturers in physics, chemistry, materials and earth sciences, but will also be of interest to the layperson who wishes toknow about these topics beyond the level given in more general trade science books. The book shows how crystal structures may be built up from simple ideas of atomic packing and co-ordination, and develops the concepts of crystal symmetry, point and space groups by way of two-dimensional examples ofpatterns and tilings. Furthermore, the concept of the reciprocal lattice is explained in simple terms and its importance in an understanding of light, x-ray and electron diffraction shown. Finally, the book covers practical examples of the applications of these techniques, and describes theimportance of diffraction in the performance of optical instruments. For this second edition, the existing material has been thoroughly updated, additional figures and exercises have been supplied and two new chapters added. From reviews on the 1/e: '... This is a timely, well-constructed bookwhich should be seriously considered by every teacher of crystallography and can be recommended to anyone who wants to get to grips with crystallography and diffraction.' P. Goodhew, Journal of Microscopy, June 1998 'IUCr publications have always been outstanding for quality of presentation andexposition and this book maintains that high standard.' J.E. Chisholm, Mineralogical Magazine, February 1998

The Weak Hydrogen Bond written by Gautam R. Desiraju and has been published by International Union of Crystal this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Hydrogen bonding categories.

The weak or non-conventional hydrogen bond has been subject of intense scrutiny over recent years in several fields, in particular in structural chemistry, structural biology, and also in the pharmaceutical sciences. There is today a large body of experimental and theoretical evidenceconfirming that hydrogen bonds like C-H...O, N-H...pi, C-H...pi and even bonds like O-H...metal play distinctive roles in molecular recognition, guiding molecular association, and in determining molecular and supramolecular architectures. The relevant compound classes include organometalliccomplexes, organic and bio-organic systems, and also DNA and proteins. The book provides a comprehensive assessment of this interaction type, and is of interest to all those interested in structural and supramolecular science, including fields as crystal engineering and drug design.

X Ray Charge Densities And Chemical Bonding written by Philip Coppens and has been published by International Union of Crystallography this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-05-08 with Science categories.

This book deals with the electron density distribution in molecules and solids as obtained experimentally by X-ray diffraction. It is a comprehensive treatment of the methods involved, and the interpretation of the experimental results in terms of chemical bonding and intermolecular interactions. Inorganic and organic solids, as well as metals, are covered in the chapters dealing with specific systems. As a whole, this monograph is especially appealing because of its broad interface with numerous disciplines. Accurate X-ray diffraction intensities contain fundamental information on the charge distribution in crystals, which can be compared directly with theoretical results, and used to derive other physical properties, such as electrostatic moments, the electrostatic potential and lattice energies, which are accessible by spectroscopic and thermodynamic measurements. Consequently, the work will be of great interest to a broad range of crystallographers and physical scientists.
