L'objet de cette thèse est l'étude du contrôle numérique d'un moteur synchrone autopiloté tournant à très faible vitesse (n'excédant pas 1tr/s). Ce travail s'inscrit dans le cadre de la conception d'un système d'usinage de très haute précision. Le moteur choisi est un moteur synchrone à aimants permanents ; il est alimenté en courant et la faible puissance (moins de 200 watts) exigée par l'application finale a permis l'utilisation d'une alimentation linéaire. Cette étude s'articule autour de deux points essentiels : asservissement de vitesse , asservissement de position. Nous avons utilisé dans la boucle de vitesse un correcteur du type proportionnel-intégral. Cette correction est satisfaisante dans le cas où les systèmes à corriger sont bien définis et fonctionnent dans des conditions bien connues or dans les milieux industriels les processus sont assujettis, d'une part à une apparition de perturbation et d'autre part ils font souvent l'objet d'une modélisation approximative ; par conséquent la régulation classique s'avère insuffisante. Cette constatation est étayée par l'apparition d'ondulations régulières en régime établi, de la réponse de la boucle de vitesse. Pour résoudre ce problème, deux solutions sont proposées : la première s'appuie sur le principe de la commande par modèle interne ; ce type de commande permet de corriger les perturbations non mesurées d'où sa robustesse. La deuxième solution consiste à ajouter à la boucle principale de vitesse, une boucle d'anticipation. Le deuxième volet de ce travail, consiste en l'étude et la mise en œuvre expérimentale d'un asservissement de position basé sur l'imbrication d'une boucle interne de vitesse et une boucle externe de position. Enfin, dans le souci d'améliorer le contrôle du mouvement du moteur et rester proche de la réalité du contexte industriel, nous avons implanté un générateur de trajectoire basé sur la connaissance du diagramme de vitesse. Les programmes de contrôle ont été implantés sur un système de développement conçu autour d'un microprocesseur 32 bits 68020, travaillant sous un système d'exploitation temps réel PDOS et ayant une structure interne du type bus VME.

Dans ce travail, l'auteur définit l'architecture d'une commande rapprochée d'un variateur de vitesse pour machine synchrone ou asynchrone. Une étude préliminaire a d'abord été menée afin de déterminer le contenu théorique de la commande rapprochée. Pour ce qui est de l'architecture, l'auteur vise à une meilleure adéquation entre les besoins propres à cette partie de la commande et sa réalisation matérielle. La commande rapprochée, qui dans ce cas inclut le contrôle du courant, est sujette à des contraintes temporelles sévères. Son temps de calcul doit donc être minimisé. C'est pourquoi l'architecture retenue exploite toutes les possibilités de parallélisme qu'offre la commande rapprochée.
