Environmental Processes And Management written by Raj Mohan Singh and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020 with Climatic changes categories.
This book presents an in-depth, science-based approach to applying key project-management and spatial tools and practices in environmental projects. Providing important data for those considering projects that balance social-economic growth against minimizing its ill-effects on planet Earth, the book discusses various aspects of environmental engineering, as well as formula and analytical approaches required for more informed decision-making. Beginning with a broad overview of the factors and features of environmental processes and management, the book then clearly details the general application of fundamental processes, the characteristics of the different systems in which they occur, and the way in which these factors influence process dynamics, environmental systems, and their possible remedies. While primarily intended for professionals responsible for the management of environmental projects or interested in improving the overall efficiency of such projects, it is also useful for managers in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. Further, it is a valuable resource for students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and an indispensable guide for anyone wanting to develop their skills in modern environmental management and related techniques.

Evaluation Of Sset The Sewer Scanner And Evaluation Technology written by Civil Engineering Research Foundation and has been published by ASCE Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-01-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Prepared by CEITEC, a CERF innovation center serving the engineering and construction industries. This report describes an evaluation of Sewer Scanner and Evaluation Technology (SSET) designed to determine the basic capabilities and limitations of SSET for use as a technicallly viable technology for inspecting sewer pipes. The evaluation focused on the performance and in-service demonstration of SSET. The technology involves digital scanning to obtain a flat, "unfolded" image of the pipeline's interior. This evaluation includes field demonstrations performed at 13 municipal public works agencies throughout North America. Subsequent to this evaluation, SSET was modified to include a fisheye lens camera and fiber optic gyroscope, which replaced the rotating mechanical scanner and mechanical gyroscope. The evaluation confirmed the operability of SSET and its viability in data presentation. A degree of enhancement was recognized with additional features, most notably the ability to produce a digital report of the sewer pipe, to identify vertical deflection in pipes, and to deliver easily comprehensible and manageable results. The evaluation also revealed that SSET cannot reproduce all the features typically available from closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspection. Such features include the ability to clearly see corrosion, infiltration rates, and ovality. The limitations in applicability were determined and an economic comparison of SSET and CCTV is provided.

Evaluating Environment In International Development written by Juha I. Uitto and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-30 with Business & Economics categories.
This book provides novel and in-depth perspectives on evaluating environment and sustainability issues in developing countries. Evaluating Environment in International Development focuses on the approaches and experiences of leading international organizations, not-for-profits, and multilateral and bilateral aid agencies to illustrate how systematic evaluation is an essential tool for providing evidence for decision-makers. Moving beyond projects and programmes, it explores normative work on the environment as well as environmental consequences of economic and social development efforts. This new edition reflects on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goals and considers how they have influenced efforts in a wide range of countries and what the implications are for evaluation. It also explores ways in which Big Data and geospatial approaches might be utilized. Significantly updated throughout to reflect recent developments in climate change research, and on the implications of the 2020 pandemic, this volume will be of great interest to students and scholars of environment studies, development studies, international relations, sustainable development and evaluation, as well as practitioners in international organizations and development and environmental NGOs. Review And Evaluation Of Alternative Chemical Disposal Technologies written by National Research Council and has been published by National Academies Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996-12-15 with Political Science categories.
In 1994 the National Research Council published Recommendations for the Disposal of Chemical Agents and Munitions, which assessed the status of various alternative destruction technologies in comparison to the Army's baseline incineration system. The volume's main finding was that no alternative technology was preferable to incineration but that work should continue on the neutralization technologies under Army consideration. In light of the fact that alternative technologies have evolved since the 1994 study, this new volume evaluates five Army-chosen alternatives to the baseline incineration system for the disposal of the bulk nerve and mustard agent stored in ton containers at Army sites located in Newport, Indiana, and Aberdeen, Maryland, respectively. The committee assessed each technology by conducting site visits to the locations of the technology proponent companies and by meeting with state regulators and citizens of the affected areas. This volume makes recommendations to the Army on which, if any, of the five technologies has reached a level of maturity appropriate for consideration for pilot-scale testing at the two affected sites.
