From Observations To Simulations A Conceptual Introduction To Weather And Climate Modelling written by Antonello Pasini and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-01-16 with Science categories.

From Observations to Simulations leads us on a fascinating journey through the methods used for the scientific analysis of complex systems such as the atmosphere and the Earth system: from meteorology and climatology, as observational sciences, to the development of models and the use of computers as virtual laboratories. In plain, accessible language, avoiding technicalities, but highlighting the conceptually meaningful aspects, the book describes this “Copernican revolution” in meteorology and climatology, a change in methodological paradigm that rigorously tests the definition of some classical concepts, such as “causality” and “prediction.” This is the first book that guides the general public (and sets the specialists thinking) through research on complex systems which is contributing to a change in our outlook on nature.

The dynamics of a global economy is being reshaped by the economic emergence of two Asian giants, China and India. How the world's two most populous countries manage globalization as they pursue economic reform and liberalization will impact significantly their societies, the rest of Asia, and the world. This book brings together articles by first rate scholars of China and India to share and discuss their research findings in four areas: Challenges, Opportunities and Responses to Globalization; Social Security and Governance; National Security in the age of Globalization; and Ethnicity and Identity in the New World. The book includes an opening address by Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, from his speech on "Managing Globalization: Lessons from China and India", delivered at the official opening of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on 4 April 2005.

Role Of The Southern Ocean In Atmospheric Pco2 Change Observations Simulations And Paleorecords written by Zhifang Xiong and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-02 with Science categories.

The Southern Ocean plays a key role in atmospheric CO2 sequestration, accounting for ~40-50% of the anthropogenic CO2 absorbed by the modern ocean. The size of this sink is attributed to strong watermass sinking (i.e., mode/intermediate water and bottom water formation), which transports carbon to the mid- and deep-ocean thus isolating it from the atmosphere for centuries. The Southern Ocean also played a critical role in atmospheric pCO2 variations in the geologic past on both orbital and millennial timescales. Moreover, the Southern Ocean modulates atmospheric and oceanic circulation in the tropics remotely, influencing low-latitude atmospheric CO2 exchange. Thus, the Southern Ocean is a key component of the global climate system, whose operation must be better understood at a range of timescales in order to accurately assess its effects on atmospheric pCO2 in the future. This Research Topic will consist of a set of cutting-edge investigations of the processes and mechanisms of Southern Ocean influence on atmospheric pCO2 and global climate change.

This book offers an updated comprehensive review of the rapidly expanding field of GRMHD simulations. In Part I, it reviews the basic equations for GRMHD simulations and for numerical relativity. Part II describes public codes for GRMHD simulations. Part III is devoted to accretion processes onto compact objects in the non-self-gravitating fluid approximation. Part IV reviews the state of the art of GRMHD simulations with self-gravitating fluids. This book represents both a valuable book for graduate students and important reference resource for researchers in the field.

Handbook Of Climate Change Impacts On River Basin Management written by Saeid Eslamian and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-26 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Climate change not only involves rising temperatures but it can also alter the hydro-meteorological parameters of a region and the corresponding changes emerging in the various biotic or abiotic environmental features. One of the results of climate change has been the impact on the sediment yield and its transport. These changes have implications for various other environmental components, particularly soils, water bodies, water quality, land productivity, sedimentation processes, glacier dynamics, and risk management strategies to name a few. This volume presents a diverse collection of case studies from researchers across the globe examining the impacts of climate change on river basin management in various geographical, hydrological, and socioeconomic contexts. The case studies yield important insights that can inform strategies to build resilience and adapt river basins to a changing climate.
