Performativity Materiality And Time written by Anja Kraus and has been published by Waxmann Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Education categories.

Focusing mainly on the tacit side of pedagogical practices entails not only a revision of instructional practices but also that of the existing theoretical approaches to educational practices and learning and a work on the methodology of empirical research in the Educational Sciences. In terms of this effort references to subjects, objects and given structures are replaced by the concepts performativity, materiality and time. In this volume the paradigm shift is applied to different educational fields, questions and methodologies, such as the performativity in imaginary, mediated and virtual spaces and other tacit subjects of learning, such as language education, the ethical implications of the adult-child differentiation, educational research on things and the mastery of university by the students.

This book, like all books, comes to an end, but that is by no means the end of the story of Open Space. In fact it is safe to say that we have barely begun. The total simplicity of Open Space (sit in a circle, create a bulletin board, open a marketplace, and go to work) contrasts radically with the quality of results and speed of achievement. The conventional theory and practice of meeting and organization would suggest that what happens in Open Space should not occur. But it does, not once but thousands of times in all parts of the world. So the continuing story of Open Space is all about this wonderful anomaly. Why does it work? How does it work? And perhaps most intriguing - if "it" works in Open Space (whatever "it" is) why couldn't it work twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year? My best guess is that the "it" is the primal power of self-organization, and if so the real significance of Open Space has little to do with better meetings, and everything to do with a deepening understanding of who we really are and how we might most effectively get on in this world. But all of that is an unfolding story and, as I would see it, a wonderful, ongoing natural experiment. And you are invited to participate. ---- Harrison Owen, Camden, Maine

Young Minds In Social Worlds written by Katherine Nelson and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-03-30 with Psychology categories.

Katherine Nelson re-centers developmental psychology with a revived emphasis on development and change, rather than foundations and continuity. She argues that children be seen not as scientists but as members of a community of minds, striving not only to make sense, but also to share meanings with others. A child is always part of a social world, yet the child's experience is private. So, Nelson argues, we must study children in the context of the relationships, interactive language, and culture of their everyday lives. Nelson draws philosophically from pragmatism and phenomenology, and empirically from a range of developmental research. Skeptical of work that focuses on presumed innate abilities and the close fit of child and adult forms of cognition, her dynamic framework takes into account whole systems developing over time, presenting a coherent account of social, cognitive, and linguistic development in the first five years of life. Nelson argues that a child's entrance into the community of minds is a slow, gradual process with enormous consequences for child development, and the adults that they become. Original, deeply scholarly, and trenchant, Young Minds in Social Worlds will inspire a new generation of developmental psychologists.

Educational Evaluation Assessment And Monitoring written by Cees Glas and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-01-16 with Education categories.

This book looks at the foundations of school self-evaluation from a scientific as from a practical perspective. Planning concepts, restructuring of education systems, organizational theory on schools, evaluation methodology and models of school effectiveness and school improvement are discussed as contributing to the overall conceptualization of school self-evaluation. A broad range of approaches is presented and methodological requirements are discussed. School self-evaluation contains controversial issues that reflect tension between the need for objectivity in a context that is permeated by values and potential conflicts of interests. Similar tensions may be seen to exist with respect to the static and "reductionist" aspects of available data collection procedures in a complex and dynamic situation and the appeal for external accountability on the one hand and improvement oriented self-refection on the other. The mission of the book is to clarify these tensions and offer ways to deal with them in practical applications. The school effectiveness knowledge base is offered as a substantive educational frame of references that serves an important function in selecting relevant factors for data collection and the use of the evaluation results.
